10 years ago today...
i was in school in eight grade down here in the west side of puerto rico, specifically in gym class, when rumors started flying that planes had crashed into the twin towers, i didnt even know what the twin towers were so when i got home i tuned in the tv and it was all over the place, every single channel had news feeds covering the attacks, the next day we had a memorial service at the school and there were a couple of kids who had family members in the affected areas so i felt real bad for them
My son was just a month old, I was getting ready for work when my wife (now ex) came and got me out of the shower. She said that a plane hit the world trade center. Shocked by what we were seeing on the news we watch the second plane hit. To all the family's who lost someone that day my heart goes out to you.
I was on Fort Carson. We were just getting done with a football game for morning PT. I heard about the attack radio and watched the Towers fall on the TV in my living room. I was ready to go kick someones ass for doing that, as well as everyone in my unit. At that time it was the 4th Engineers.

I was walking down the passageway from supply to my shop at my last (and final) duty station on the way to go fix electronics when the rumor hit the halls that the 1st plane had crashed. By the time the 3rd plane hit we were sure it was an attack. One of my shipmates was from Noo Yawhk and he was SERIOUSLY bummed and spent a lot of time on the phone.

In high school around 8:30 am. I was 16. My history teacher was smart, cool, and chill unlike some foolish superiors. He immediately stopped class, turned Msnbc/CNN (whatever it was) on. The first building was already hit. They reported it to be a small Cessna first so we all thought it was some pilot's misfortune but there was too much smoke for that. Then the second plane hit from the back and we watched the WTC both collapse live during the whole class.
I can't say things have really changed too much since then except a few electronic upgrades, uglier cars, sh*tty music, we got old and fat, and some friends popped out babies lol.

I had just got out of the shower and my dad called. He told me to turn the TV on - I asked what channel, and he said any channel. I walked to class an hour or so later, a big 500+ student lecture for Biology, and the professor told us it was a day that nobody would ever forget. Classes were cancelled, they just left the projectors on the news coverage for anyone to watch.
I was in school at UT Knoxville. There's an airport within miles of campus, and a nuclear power plant within 50 miles. I remember how weird it was not seeing any planes, soo quiet outside with the occasional fighter jet fly over.

I was driving to work listening to Howard Stern when they looked out their window and noticed something was up. They said it looked like one of the WTC towers was on fire. About that time, a car came across the highway in front of me and went off over the shoulder into the median. A couple of cars heading the opposite direction on the divided highway just stopped on the shoulder. People driving were doing really weird things the rest of the way to work. I've never seen so many people parked alongside the highway. Maybe 5 minutes after first hearing that the WTC was on fire Stern had confirmed that a plane had hit the tower. Soon after that the second plane hit and I got on the phone to tell the wife and my dad to turn on the tv. I went to work and someone left and bought a tv. I rigged up a crappy wire antenna so that we could watch grainy news. After a couple of hours pretty much everyone lost interest in working completely so we just went home. I still have the recording of the Howard Stern show from that day. I've listened to it a few times. It's sort of surreal.

i was eight years old, so i'd just gone to bed. my parents were watching the news already, so they pulled me out of bed and we watched it for a couple of hours. i remember it first thinking that it was part of an action movie.
the next day at school all the third graders basically span conspiracy stories and the teachers were vague.
