I was looking at the endlinks the other day and noticed the black rubber pieces are starting to crack. They have been installed on my car for only a few months now. Can I get replacements? Is there any maintenance that needs to be done with them like graphite or something?

Hey,

Keep an eye on the rubber seals. That is what keeps a majority of the dirt out of the rod end. Replacements are available for $2 per seal, so $16 for a full replacement kit (free shipping of course). As far as lubrication goes, if you hear them squeek at all, apply a drop of lubricating oil (not WD40 or motor oil) to the inside of the rod end joint. Thats about it. If you would like to purchase the replacement seals, you can send payment via paypal to kjbaudio@yahoo.com.

Thanks,

Kevin

I will try to find something usable at Lowes or something. $16 to replace seals that have been on a car for 3 months is bogus. That would be $64 a year if they wear like they are now. Plus they are more of a rubber flap over the rod end than a seal.

Hey,

The seals we use with the kit are made by Seals It. It is a stainless steel washer with neoprene rubber molded onto it. They are made specifically for Heim Joints or spherical rod ends. I don't know how much luck you're gonna have in lowes.

Thanks,

Kevin

If they are so special then tell me why they are dry rotting after only three months on my car?!? I like the end-links except for the fact that they are not adjustable when installed and the fact the washer/seal life span is what 3 months? Seems like they are not made specifically for this application, that being in the heat near the road.

Ouch, non adjustable AND these seals fail like that?

I'll probably just go with the Whitelines then.

Hey,

Javageek.... I sent you a PM about the seals.

Also, any future orders will contain an extra set of replacement seals. These are a wearable item that need to be replace to extend the life of the rod end, just like tie rod boots and CV axle boots. The endlinks are still adjustable, you just need to remove one bolt and you can extend or shorten the endlinks.

Thanks,

Kevin

yeha, i think that the problem is that replacing a seal every 3 months is pretty ridiculous, not even taking into consideration that java is in florida and the same seals will probably only last a months time in a northeast winter.

any suggestions on how to make them last longer?
