as stated in the description. do you actually cut these out of sheets of diamond plate, or just distribute them?

the reason i ask, is if you custom cut them, would you be able to get black diamond plate, and maybe for a lil more $$ make a set of those?

i would really like these, but i hate shiny chromy styled stuff, but love the look of black diamond plate.

KevinBrz 06-11-2007 11:06 PM

Hey,

We actually distribute them. However, we can powdercoat them black before we ship them to you if you would like. We will have our Custom Powdercoating setup in about 2 weeks. Then we can powdercoat anything, any color. For the floormats we could do a high gloss black, black chrome, semi-gloss black, flat black. Let me know.

Thanks,

Kevin

How much extra would this be?Im interested in didfferent colors.

KevinBrz 06-11-2007 11:23 PM

Hey,

Probably $20 for the front and an additional $5 for the rear. We can also do candy colors like blue, red, green, you name it. And it would look killer over the polished diamond plate.

Thanks,

I would be interested in a set. Are you going to add color as an option to choose when you check out on the site?

How durable is powder coating on a thin piece of aluminum? Will it crack if you bend it or step on it too hard? Also, can the shiney black be buffed if you scratch it?

KevinBrz 06-12-2007 01:53 PM

Hey,

The powdercoat is very tough and durable. You can bend the aluminum without cracking the powdercoat. The coating is chemical, chip, and scratch resistant ( to a point ). You cannot buff the powdercoat if there is a scratch, but, unless you are grinding rocks with your feet into the mats, they will remain in good condition.

Damn, Black chrome would probably look awesome same with just glossy black.

REDZMAN 06-13-2007 07:04 PM

KJB, are you sure about the bending? You might wanna test a few pieces out first, as I was always told in my engineering classes that if you bent anything with Powdercoat on it, it would crack and flake off. Especially in areas where you have a double bend.

KevinBrz 06-13-2007 08:10 PM

Hey,

We have bent some things that were powdercoated without it cracking, to a point of course. Although we never tried with the floormats, the small angle the floormats will be bent will not harm the powdercoat. Also, you cannot bend it with a sharp edge ( like the end of a metal workbench). You should use a nice radiused edge like a kitchen table. When we get the powdercoating system up and running, we will test it on the floormats before we make any sales just to be sure it wont crack and flake off.

Thanks,

Kevin

good deal.. thanks, and post pics of what it looks like pre bent (coated) to after bend with the look of the coating.

REDZMAN 06-13-2007 08:13 PM

Nice. It wouldn't be an issue if they were shipped pre bent, but the ones you sell have to be bent when installed.

Thanks for the good customer service and feedback my man.

KevinBrz 06-13-2007 08:17 PM

Hey,

Another solution to this would be for us to prebend them when we receive them. But also it would be harder to ship and possible more expensive because of the increase of box size.

Thanks,

well, if the powdercoating cracks or anything just do it that way. it shouldnt be to much more for shipping. looking forward to pictures.

Kantizuni 06-13-2007 08:31 PM

^^ +1

REDZMAN 06-13-2007 08:59 PM

Probably the best way to do it my man KJB. If you didn't, the only way to really bend them right and in the correct place is to put them in place, then step on them nice and hard.
