Put me down for one too!!!

Will the stage 1 still have the hookup already in it to hookup the wideband later or is it just a matter of hooking it up to one of the ecu ports going in? I won't need the actual wideband unit with my uego already in there.

This is going to be awesome. I have been looking into going to mega squirt anyways but then this comes along!

Word, you get the first one. I PM'ed you about the ECU's, that's awesome. For sure, this will help us with lead time and waiting for returned cores.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (tibby01 @ Feb 28 2008, 06:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>what an awesome idea. megasquirt is the ftw tuner of the decade.</div>

I agree. Open source FTW!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (KustomizedTiburon @ Feb 28 2008, 06:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I'd also like dibs on one of the first ones, if thats possible in this thread. Money is ready.</div>

Word. I will PM you second when these are ready to roll.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Ericy321 @ Feb 28 2008, 06:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Couple questions:
  1. No ignition ignitor or anything else needed, right?
  2. I have a map sensor with my turbo kit and do not have a maf. How will that be used? (Splice into the MAF wires and switch something inside perhaps)
</div>

Nothing needed to get it running other than a laptop or a pC in your garage that you can hook up serial to. It started right up in my car, nothing additional.

I DO need to know, for a vacuum line, is the only constant vacuum inside the car the black supply to the HVAC controls?

As for your MAF/MAP swap, I'll have to ask the guy doing them for you. Email me your questions instead, so I can forward them to him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (AdamW @ Feb 28 2008, 07:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I have a few general questions:
1. How long do you think these will be available, or will they be ongoing as long as supply and demand are there?
2. If I'm understand this right, the prices listed are a base price for what you have so far said comes with it. Prices increase as we request additional things (features) with them, such as maps, or the ability to pre-heat your car for example.
3. Are the prices including an assembled unit, or an unassembled one?

I'm sure I will have more. I am super excited about this and very very grateful to everyone involved.</div>

1. Until the guy making them dies, or something better comes along.

2. No. Those are built into the software. We should be shipping them with a decent NA map on it.

3. Completely assembled of course, as in the pics.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Ericy321 @ Feb 28 2008, 08:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>1. The units are universal at first. He is just hooking them up to a stock ECU. That being said these can be made anytime I assume
2. The extras hes talking about are things like map sensors or other sensors to enable nitrous or other things. Not so much maps. It will come with a base map I understand but anything past that is really to different to do without a dyno. The preheating is all in the idle speed along with a timer.
3. Im going to say thats assembled.

As for me, I have a map sensor. The MS should be able to read that just like any other standalone and allow me to set fuel and spark at any given reading from the map sensor. I just need a way to wire it in.

I would like more info on what else can be built into these for extra. My PRS is sold and Im doing this asap. I need to have it wired for me to connect my map sensor and allow for nitrous later on. Please keep me (and others) updated so we can discuss further options with this unit.</div>

1. They will be universal for the Beta 1 platform, we'll do other models later.
2. Correct.
3. Correct.

You are 3rd on the list as I read it.

Wideband should just be used by wiring it into the stock O2 sensor wiring, then you get a wideband reading, from what I understand. If your UEGO is a wideband, you won't need one.

This may sound elementary....

So when it comes in the mail it will have a N/A map on it correct?, How hard willl it be to program it to boost and get everything right?

Oh I will need one of the cores too if possible. If not I'll just got ahead and order an extra ecu now.

i dont think anyones asked yet. but redzman, any power gains estimated yet? i have been looking for something to boost up my power on the N/A without spending $$$ on a used airram..... if i could even pry one from somebody's cold dead fingers. The only thing that would keep me from getting this is:

prom $$$- april
painting the car $$$- ASAP
buying my bro's laptop $$$- later on

Power gains on a stock engine will be minimal, but will still be there.

On a modified engine, they could be amazing gains, as the biggest problem we have, is our OEM ECU always over richening and the fact that we can't easily do timing or other tuning procedures without the ECU's help.

It's all going to depend on what you have done to your car, and how you tune it, as is with any standalone or piggyback.

Second off, on the cores guys, when we get the 5 from Yamaha, they will be sitting there until someone orders one and pays in full (including core charge). When you return your OEM ECU, or if you send in a spare when you order, you will get your core refunded. This will ensure we always have enough cores on hand to deal with orders, and that no one has to wait for months to get their product because some lazy ass didn't send in his core. I will keep the core stock refreshed from local junkers, or ebay, and anyone is welcome to help out. It helps the entire community.

If I can get ABQElantra up here, we'll probably do the XD's next, if not one of the Kia brands that Ray doesn't already do.

REDZMANG @ rdtiburon.com of course.. LOL

All of these ECU's will come setup for N/A, but you should be able to START any car with it. Tuning and adjusting it can be done either at a tuner's shop, or on your own PC/Laptop at home, if you just take the time to do it. Personally, if you are running boost, I'd recommend the following.

1. Get at least stage 2.
2. Install the wideband on your own, get your vacuum lines ready, and find a local tuner that works megasquirt, shouldn't be a problem.
3. Go to the tuner, swap your ECU, and set it up, tune it initially on the dyno, and then tweak stuff to your personal driving habits afterwards.

If you have any knowledge on the subject, or do some research, you can do MOST of the tuning on the road yourself. I don't, so I won't be.
