These things are really nice. The way they are put together is great and its probably one of the easiest mods to do as well as possibly one that can show the most gains if properly tuned. I definitely reccomend these to anyone looking for tuning. The price for plug and play is great and the possibilities with these are endless.

I'm going to be honest here, so forgive me if I sound cold or hit any nerves.

These days I don't have time to be a guinnea pig, and I've learned my lesson from past products on this site to sit back and wait til others jump through the hoops and solidify the product before throwing my money around. In other words, I would LOVE to have an ECU that does what you guys say it does. But until I see 1 or 2 turbo Tibs running this with no issues and running at least 13's on it (which is easy to do on a minor setup), then I'm not jumping in on it. And I think that you're going to see others do the same until you test this thing on a turbo project car.

If only there was a "try before you buy" program so people don't feel like they're taking such a big risk.

However, I may have an alternative. My car has been sitting for over half a year now. I drove it recently with the PRS, but it just needs a better ECU.
Bill, if want to use my car, then it's in Alamo Ranch, which is down the road from you, is it not? Feel free to plug it in and try it out. The motor is stock.
I'm asking nothing from you, but to try it out and prove to me it works. If it does, then I'll gladly buy one.
We can take vids and do some in car runs etc to put on the site and make everyone else feel better.

I understand what you said in the first sentence and the first paragraph, but this has already been "PROVEN" to work. I've ran one for over a year, and am about to reinstall it since I moved. We have 2 other members here that have one or have had one, and have posted.

Granted, it's not 13 second times on any of the 3 of us that I know of, but it still works. Hell, I've got videos of my car running with it installed.

I understand what you are getting at, and I agree with what you said, but it DOES work. It's a Megasquirt, they have been around for many years and are proven to work. We've got them working on the RD and Kia's with the same ECU, so it does work for us. Beyond that, it's just tuning. Hopefully next month, I'll get mine professionally tuned and some new dyno's up.

I'll hit Bill up for you.

Does the Megasquirt take control of the Idle Control Valve? If so then it could be something with the tuning of the stepper motor. You may have to increase the duty cycle or something. How does the MS closed loop running operate?

It does take control of the idle control Valve, you can adjust low end fuel, etc, I will get with Wayne to give some instruction for that. We have two turbo cars now running in the 13's, they dont post on here, but I have their info.

We have these ready to go right out of the box. I have an upgraded unit ready to sell if anyone is interested, it will plug right in and run the car right out of the box if you are interested.

Jon, I would and can try it on your car if you wanted to, I go past your house everyday, I am about 8 miles away at Bear Spring Ranch.

If you want to give this a try, please let me know.

Bill

Is the IAC control just its own map that you put numbers in? Reason why I ask is the OEM ECU takes things like TPS, RPM, Coolant Temp, Air Temp and Vehicle Speed into consideration when operating the IAC. The hardest thing I had to tune when I had a standalone was the IAC. It was a major pain getting it to work right. On the GK Tibs the IAC is used to up the idle when braking as well as compensate for things like alternator load and a/c compressor load.

Nope.

Hook up to a laptop and do some tuning there, your elevation is nowhere near mine I bet ya.

There are a LOT of settings in there for starting, look at some of them, but read the manuals and forums for the MS first.

There's also a "cold start" process you can do, I had to do it when I first got mine until we got it fully tuned and setup some of the starting options correct.

Turn the key to ON. NOT turning over the car, just to ON.

Push the gas pedal to the floor and all the way back up 3 times quickly. Must be in like 5 seconds or less. Then start your car.

I posted about it before.
