Default what first?

you have to ask yourself many questions first.

1. just how much money are you willing to put into this?
2. what do you want to do with your car? looks or performance?
3. do you have the tools and knowledge to do small things yourself, or will you need to factor in labor costs from a mechanic?

most people would probably say get the AEM cold air intake first, since we have limited options on exhausts or our cars right now.

i suggest using the little search box at the top and do as much research as you can, this topic has been covered a lot.

moving to newbie bin.

IF you're mechanically inclined and have tools or know someone who is, you could probably make your own CAI..if not, ebay is a good place to find an affordable intake.

Yup, pretty much everyone's first mod is an intake, then exhaust, then whatever you want. I agree with tibby01 take a hard look at what you want to get out of your tibby, then start the addiction. laugh.gif

engine wise they are right, but for me i went with rims first cuz they just make the car look so much better, then i went to the AEM CAI, now i am going to go to turbo laugh.gif It is all personal preferance, it really is, do what u like, when u figure that out, talk to ppl here about how to go about doing it, they always have good ideas 8)

yea i just got my intake about a month ago (AEM CAI) i love it, nice little power gain plus the sound is nice.... i would get exaust but im going to wait hopufully a couple new exausts will be made for a cars in the near future. (choices are limited) then as soon as i save up the money im going 2 be turboing my car. Guess the intake was a waiste but im having fun with it and will be able to sell it when im done. Bascially what everyone else said, figure out what you wanna do. Looks or Engine or alittle of both... either way you got to try and figure out how much you looking to put into this car and how long u plan on having it.

the VERY first thing you should do? Sit down, looking at your car... and decide what you want to do with it... Want a show car? How about a track winner? A sharp daily driver? Once you figure out what direction you want to take... you need to decide on a theme... there is nothing worse than a car that is a mismash of styles and ideas...

Myself, I am after a sharp daily driver with a retro theme.

addiction it is... lol.gif

i've wanted tibs since they came out in 1996 (6th grade!). when i saw them in showrooms in 1997, i couldn't resist the urge to want one. that was back when ferrari f-50s just came out and Vipers were the main attraction.

my inspiration is exotic cars, with a little rally twist, a little james bond in between.

go out and search for inspiration. i highly recommend buying sport compact car magazine from Giant or ordering yourself some issues. it's very informative. it has aftermarket, exotic, and rally information, all aftermarket advertisers for hyundai + more. either that or an import car mag. then look through and being only 16, you will discover everything that needs to be discovered. that my friend, will introduce you to the world of sport compact cars, aftermarket parts and what they do, and the competition, recognition, and pride we're up against. 8)

i honestly believe there is a natural evolution of a tuner...
you start out doing rice mods, then basic performance mods like a CAI, header etc.. then you progress to nitrous and then finally boost!
