Very cool welcome. I've spent most of the night trying to figure out what my options are for upgrading my 1999 Tibby FX transmission (and most of that time was at www.newtiburon.com; it took way too long to figure out that it's only for 2003+ models). Here's the deal:

I bought this car new in 1999. It has about 86k miles on it now. And I plan to keep it around for another 3-4 years instead of buying a new car. To do so, I need to update a few things. In particular, I'm looking to solve a problem I have with it.

Since buying my wife's Mini Cooper, I've been driving it quite a bit. The 1st gear in the Mini seems to be quite responsive, has high enough torque to get moving quickly. The 1st gear in my Tibby seems slow and sluggish. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve the low gear responsiveness.

I'm completely new to the car mod world. And I'm not looking to go crazy...I just want to fix the car up so that it 'feels' like new over the next year. And improving the gear ratio or transmission seems like it would go a long way to that end.

Are there any suggestions for what my options are? Or for someone that might be a good Dallas area guy to get work done for it? And any suggestions for what I might pay to have someone do this kind of work for me?
