Hi, my name is James.

I'm from Jacksonville, FL.

I drive a 00 Tibby.

I found these forums through a search engine.

No mods worth mentioning right now, I saved this RD2 from a dealership where it had sat for a long, long time. After a few pervious owners and accidents it now wont hold 5th gear and needs some body work. Im focusing on the tranny and replacing belts before I can pour any money into mods.

Welcome!
Doesn't look bad at all, hope you got a great deal on it!
You can look for a newer elantra tranny on car-part.com, i got one with low miles for $400 but you might find one cheaper. There are a couple of threads on beta2 tranny swaps, it mainly bolts on except some minor grinding (a video in a thread will show you exactly what you need to do).

Awesome, thanks for the info. Im hoping this tranny is salvageable, but if not I have some good options. The car only has 75k miles and it shifts fine in all other gears.

Cool. You should go over the site rules, one of them is not to quote the post above yours (it wastes vertical space and gets annoying in large threads), use the Add Reply button instead.

Getting someone to open up the tranny and fix it is probably gonna cost more than just getting a newer one..
