I have been around the Hyundai scene since 2000 when I bought my tiburon.

I have done a targa top to it (search any hyndai forum, you'll see my name associated with it) Custom roll cage and a wrapped frame to stiffen the body etc etc.

I did a lot on hyundaiperformance and TSR forums for several years, but have been away from all this modding and stuff for about 4 years. Raising a family. You know... but I have been looking at some more stuff for my tiburon. So i'll be bouncing in and out.

If you have questions about targa tops... first, don't do it, because I am one of probably only a couple in the world for an RD targa tiburon :-) and second, it is A LOT of work. There are a lot of cooler, and turborific things you could do to your car vs. a targa top.

But, hi. This is the only forum I can post in for right now. So hello :-)

btw... tiburon is now garaged and seldom drive. Only a couple of thousand miles on it over the last few years. had some awful thoughts about selling it! shame on me.

Go take some new ones, close ups.
But I guess that's good for now, we'll let it slide wink1.gif

That looks awesome.

Tell us a little bit how you did it, didn't that weaken the structure a lot? How'd you keep er holdin up? Is the chrome your talking about the shiney stuff around the wheel wells and on the door (if so, glad you got rid of it, i don't like it much fing02.gif and if not, uhhh .. looks great man. LOL.)

I already explained why no new ones. Chrome, yeah, the shiny stuff over wheels and doors, and yes, long gone.

But, I stripped out the interior, welded the roll cage all over the inside of the tiburon. That and I wrapped the fame. Which is basically, welding bars across the subframe on the bottom. I already had front and rear strut bars. You can tell the car is not as stiff as stock... but with the additions then the roof coming off... it's completely acceptable. It probably would worry me if I were to roll it. I don't have a FULL roll cage. I value not having to climb in through the window (although easier without a roof lol)

It has a bar that goes up over the top, and the front where the window rests has a steel beem supporting that, but I really would not want to find out. I wouldn't want to find out in any vehicle.

I always tell passengers, make sure they buckly up. Simple as this, if I rear end someone... they'll hit the airbag and fly out the top Eyecrazy.gif
