Lets see, I picked up my 2001 Tiburon in September of 2005. She's black, 5spd and totally stock and I love the thing. I spent a month looking for a decent black 2001-2003 Protege fully loaded, only to find major dents or scratches for the 10K dollars I was willing to spend. Heading to yet another car dealer, I spotted the Tiburon on the front lawn of a decent dealership. I looked it over when the place was closed, tried a test drive on my own for about 1/2 hour and got hooked. Never a regret, no problems at all so far with 55,000 miles beneath it. Now I'm looking for some improvements and WOW what a site for information. One of the best sites I've seen.

Things I'm looking to do are:

1) Find a way to reduce wheel hop! (Only pet peeve)
2) Go from stock tires and rims to 16' with chrome
3) Find a shortshifter kit.
4) Get clear corners and euro style taillights.
5) Place some strut bars in
6) Get a cold air induction system (not sure which make)

Next summer, I want a repaint the car black again, and figure that'll be the time to try a body kit. As for horsepower gains, I don't need too many tickets like when I was a teen, but I'll keep my mind open.

Hi and welcome!

You will find answers on those questions on this site.

Usually crome wheels are too heavy.

Id suggest gettin headers and an exhaust and call it a day for your performance if you dont want a lot. no point in JUST gettin the intake.

Hold off on your purchase of the short shifter. REDZMAN (our site administrator) is currently putting 6 of the best short shifters out there head to head on his tiburons. He's doing a completely unbiased testing and will reveal the results soon. There's too many of them out there right now, but he's already used a few of them and has posted a couple of results. The finals are inconclusive right now.

Some of the short shifters i've seen come with VERY lightweight shift knobs.. go with an aftermarket shift knob that is heavy if you switch.
