I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I'm new here and I just got a 2006 GT. I'm very happy with it, but I would like to get a little more power.

I'm pretty clueless as far as tuning goes, but I know I'd like a little more HP and in general to boost the initial acceleration. What's the easiest way to go about doing this? What exactly do I need to buy and can an average person following instructions install these parts themselves? What are the best products and places on the internet to get them?

Thanks, nice forum, had fun looking at all the nice tibbys.

Hi and welcome to the site!

One of the best first mods is CAI (Cold Air Intake).

Do a search on this forum and you will find lot's of threads about first steps in modding (performance wise).

Welcome to the site.

Just so you know, we are primarily concerned with the 1996-2001 or RD series Tiburon here, it's a 4Cyl engine similar to the one on the newer tibs. We don't know too much about the 2003-2007, but we will help you out with what we can.

Which engine/tranny combo do you have?

quicker acceleration you say... hmmmmm

if you want better throttle response, etc... with a little hp gain i would go with new lightweight pulleys. those will give you better response and such and can be installed by you if you have the tools and a little knowhow

Welcome. You want more HP you say? Well if it's a V6, I think they come with 170bhp...If I were you, I'd buy a CAI, Exhaust system and header for a start. That should probably give you around 200bhp. Next, I'd buy a SAFC and Tune it just right...you can get 10-15hp by tuning it just right. (From what I hear...) If you want to go big, I'd recommend Forced Induction. My friend's Boss actually has an All Motor 2003 Tiburon that runs 13's...I believe he recently bought a Turbo for it. (Again, This is from what I hear..)

Anyways, Welcome to the site!

Kspec.com importshark.com optionimports.com <--- All 3 of those sites have things for your car. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go with the cold exhaust to start...and I must have been tired last night, I didn't even realize this was for the older models.

It seems like the new tibs like superdcharging over turbo. With the CAI and exhaust u dont have to replace them when u boost wit a roots super. Welcome
