Welcome to the site! laugh.gif As for loud, Any intake modification should make your engine a bit noisier, but a CAI will make your engine the most noisey, and im not talking about swush noise when you accelerate. the actual detonating fuel and air mixture in the engine can be heard fairly well. Headers and a 2.25" cat back exhaust will give you all the noise you need tongue.gif, very loud (noise violation loud). Also, I used to be like you when I was 17, lol, then I figured out what I really wanted to do. I wanted a car not to "look" neat. I wanted it to preform neat! so adding a spoiler (like that one) basically does nothing for a front engine front wheel drive car except add drag and as for gas milage? say good buy to that once you get that parachute on the back of your car, lol alittle harsh. I really wanted one of those spoilers back in the day that were 12" high wider than my car and had fully adjustable capabilities, and finally I was brought to a ricer intervention from my friend, lol. He owned a manual 00' v6 mustang. Obviously a hater of imports at the time. I didnt think my little car had any potential except to look aweful, I was wrong. The first thing I got was a body kit, next my idea was to get the spoiler and then I bought a bunch of different neon tubes (obviously these look good at car shows when used correctly), thank god I didnt put them on. Now Im on a very good run with keeping my car clean, scratch free and shiny with the few power mods i've added in my signature. Pulleys are great! for saving gas. IF you wanna see my car its in the visual/ appearance/ showoff section? not sure what its called.

@spawn77 f*** yea - ricers unite

@cudjoe yea im sure ill go through this stage but this is the first car i have owned outright, and as for now, all the girls my age seem to like the nice looking cars, fast doesn't really matter to them, and while you grew out of it at 17 you were prolly surrounded by cars or tools or something f***ing man like when you were younger, my dad was the least handy person in the world so that prolly led to why im a computer guy trying to learn cars.

also dont get me wrong, i WILL for SURE be doing engine mods, but with my limited budget, money goes alot further in aesthetics rather than engine mods, when i walk out to my car that spoiler is going to look pretty good to me rather than the knowing i have all the carbon out of my intake manifold. just saying, im doing appearance first, im sure that's backwards to the pros, but im a noob. a noob who can't wait to have his spoiler tongue.gif lol

oh yea the body kit issue, i would drop 500 dollars in a second on a nice body kit but it would be stupid, in my town here every driveway turn it and parking lot is like a cliff, i right now dont have a bodykit and i have to make sure to enter all the driveways around here on a 45 degree angle one tire at a time not to scrape my stock front bumper, thats f***ing lame.

but yea thats where im at.

hate to say it, no idea what pulleys are, but if they save gas, ill buy em. basically anything that saves gas ill buy, even if i have to put it on credit, that shit pays it self off in gas money and i want to get it as close to the beginning of me having the car as possible.

Awright, I'm not quite sure how much they are but I think there around 150-180$ for the underdrive crank pulley. If you open your hood, its the circular piece on the right of your engine (not your right). It would be your left if you open the hood and look down on the engine. Its attached to a doohicky thats spins and makes your pistons go up and down called a crank shaft. This circular crank pulley has a couple of belts that come off of it and attach to various other pulleys, some of them being the water pump pulley which you will see the best because it's sitting in front of your header (heat shield) on your engines right. I will try to post a pic of the pulley and the pic of the water pump pulley so you know exactly what im talking about. It's biggest characteristic is the fact that there are rubber belts attached to them, cant miss it. When you hear one of those cars that make a high pitch sqealing noise in the engine bay its because of these belts being to old and worn down. THe stock crank pulley on your car weighs somewhere in the ballpark of 25-30Ib, (REALLY, ITS THAT HEAVY). This heavy weight puts a strain on the engine when its trying to spin it as well as spin your wheels. Replacing this part with a 10-14Ib light weight crank pulley can free up 5hp+ easily. I have gotten three of the 5 pulleys (I think thats how many there are on our engines) replaced with pulleys that weight less than half the weight of the original pulleys. It feels better to drive now laugh.gif. It just doesnt make your engine louder though, but it makes your engine look slightly jazzy with a colorful pulley mounted on it. Also I payed a body shop about 60 dollars to mount all three of my pulleys, not bad. People say its easy, but I just didnt feel like doing it. Oh yeah, Girls LOVE fast cars that look good and sound loud. There really not all about looks in high school. They just never been in a fast car before smile.gif, so I think its up to you to make your car fast and show them what they really want.

If money is a problem, try searching the distributors here, they usually have good deals, also buy used parts from other guys on here at the buying and selling forums. New parts, used parts? whats the difference? One cost way less. lol.
