So, as you can tell, I am a noobie. To this forum anyway. I'm part of www.stormowners.com, kind of. My second car was a 1990 Geo Storm 2+2 (base model), and i had started working on making her a show car. I started with an APC wing, then a chrome short ram intake, then a 3 1/2 inch tip perfomance muffler, nd I was working with Extreme demensions on getting a body kit made. But, unfortunatly the day I got my muffler welded on, the head gasket and water pump died on me. So, being the lazy bum I am, she sat in front of my house for a month, when I found my 1999 Tiburon FX (I think). I have found my new love. I also intend on making her a show car. I'm going to start first with simple cheap changes.

For starters, I was wondering, with my Storm, there was a way to chnge the lighting for the gages by changing out the LED's. Is there a way to do the same with the Tiburon? If so, does anybody know how?

yes we do. cool.gif

and word of advice. Start thinking a little bit more about your engine rather than the looks of your car. You bought a beautiful car (an RD1=1999), it looks fine the way it is. Make her go fast! fing02.gif

The reason your storm went south was cuz bad engine care. At least what it looks like to me. Dont' do that to the tibby or I'll come afta you! sad.gif

Welcome I wouldnt make it an all out show car and not touch the engine. Get some clear corners first if you want show then get a AEM cai and see which route you want to go or both.

Welcome to the site!

Where you at in N. Cali? I used to live in the Bay Area.

The Storm was a cool car, I almost bought one years and years ago back in Cali.

As for the tib, I can understand wanting to start out with the visual stuff, so let me say this. Do 50/50. Do a "Visual" mod then a Performance mod. You'll be much happier.

I'd also suggest you look through our DIY forums and use the SEARCH function as there is a LOT of info on this site allready.

Thanks much guys. As for the show car stuff. I'm startingwith AEM Blue Powder Coat CAI and a 4" Angel Tip Muffler (for now. I'll be re-doing the entire exahust system when I go turbo with full cat-back exhauat. The 4"er I'm doing is the one I was going to put on the storm but since I didn't do more research than I did it was too long for the storm but just long enough for the tiburon.) The show car stuff will be a body kit of my own design (I'm going to school for body repair stuff that I'm 75% sure will transfer over), A high profile wing (which style? I havn't decided), 17" Rims (better than she came with), pain, nean and full interior stuff (which will stay secret for now). But, all in all, don't worry about me going fully show. I just have to watch it with horse power tho (very heavy lead foot with a huge speeding ticket and 4 warnings)

As for the part of Nor Cal >>> 45 min equally between Sac and SF (without traffic).

I would suggest a 2.25" or 2.5" muffler. If you're going to spend the money on the muffler, go ahead and get a custom cat-back exhaust. It's worth it and not that much more from a muffler shop. 4" is a little over the top, and you start losing horsepower with 3" or higher. There's too much open space, it ends up taking more HP to push the exhaust out and you lose power overall. It's one of the common understandings of our cars, 2.25" is optimal for N/A and 2.5" is okay for turbo.

I wouldn't suggest a wing. They don't look good on our cars. The Veilside wing is the only wing I would really go with, but even that's way too much. I like it because it has a different styling than just throwing any old aluminum aircraft gear on the hatch.

there are some very nice body kits made for our cars. Check the For Sale forum, I believe someone is selling a Zefiro Turby body kit (rare Korean body kit, one of the nicest. It's on the blue car in REDZMAN's sig)

Welcome to the site, enjoy your stay.

As far as the muffler goes >>> I'm putting it on for looks and because I've got nothing else to do with it. (the 4" part is only the tip, the inlet is 2" if that makes a difference)Also, if I lose a little horse power (and call me crazy) thatok with me. My heavey foot will get me in trouble with the 140hp that this tiburon has. My storm only had 95hp back in 1990, by the time she died it was probably more like 85-90hp. I can't afford another speeding ticket. My monthly insurance is already at $216 a month.

I just saw the wing on Kspec.com and i'm really liking it.

Thanks for the tip tho. I'll keep it in mind.
