Hey everyone. I've been reading this site for the past month or so, and I suddenly realized that I should join and contribute once in awhile - if i'm going to be stealing everything I can from the forums, anyway.
I have a 2000 Tiburon which i've had for about a year now. I've only recently starting doing any work on it - purely cosmetic right now, but hopefully i'll stop being lazy and order a CAI sometime in the near future. That should get me started.
Uhm. I guess i'm supposed to introduce myself, too? I live in Canada. And i'm cold. Yeah. That's about it. Not much else interesting to tell.
Quick question to anyone who reads this: How do the inside door panels on the 2000 come off? I want to remove them to do some painting, but once I have all the screws off, it sticks and won't come free along the top where the panel connects to the glass of the window. I assume they'll pop up if I put pressure on it, but I know some types of cars involve wierd keys that slide underneath to undo latches. I figure it's easier to ask someone who knows than to try wrenching on it and break something.
Thanks, I look forward to posting. smile.gif

I did try, but I didn't pull too hard on it. It felt like it was either still screwed on or clipped on really tight. If it's just supposed to slide up then I guess I need to pull on it a little harder.
I was just afraid of breaking it. My original plan was to buy all new trim for the inside, and paint those so that I can restore the originals if I ever sell the car, but the dealership here wants $800 for a new inside door panel. I've been a little more cautious about breaking things when i'm removing pieces since then. 02.gif

Just put a little pressure when pulling up. As long as all the screw are taken out then it should pop off without a hitch. As for the middles of the door panel, don't waste your time w/ dealers and buying from them. Search around some junkyards, do a search online for some junkyards, make some calls, keep checking ebay, and checking people here selling things. Remember there are pop tabs usually blue that help hold the door on even if the screws are out. Did you unhook the door panel switches? If not there is a wire of coarse that runs to them, just trace the wire where it hooks into the panel switches. Push the little tab in a little and pull and the wiring will unhook. Then pull the switch panel out and that should also help before you try to pull the panel off. Only other thing i can imagine you might be missing is the screw that is my the door handle. Try all that I guess. I have ripped my panels out so many times.
Welcome to the site mang!
As for your problem... did you get the screws that are in the handle itself and the one that is behind the part you have to pull to actually open the door? Those are the ones that I forgot when I did that. Also, there are two clips on the bottom of the panel, one is towards the outside and one is up near the speaker. Youll have to pull strait out on those and the push the whole thing upwards to get it off.
There is a complete Do It Yourself in the DIY section if you run into any more trouble. OR I can always take mine back off and take pictures of it as I go.... I need to redo my paint job anyways... lol

1 screw behind unlock handle
2 screws in bigger handle below, behind those little buttons
2 or 3 screws around the edge, where the door meets that tire pressure chart.
remove the triangle peice covering the side view mirror. just pop it straight out.
go around door panel with brisk tugs around the bottom and sides. there are clips there and should just pop out.
lift panel up to get it off the window opening.
good luck and welcome. fing02.gif

What tibby01 said^^
Also don't forget to remove the "courtesy light" bulb harness (it sort of unscrews like the ones in your blinkers)
And welcome!
Let's see some pics smile.gif

Welcome....And yes check your switch wiring cause if you rip that out your up the creek. But if your 100% sure you have all the screws out and all the wires unpluged. Do like theyve all said and give a swift jerk on the outsides of the door panel and it will pop loose. Now grab the sides of the doorpanel and pull up and VAOLLA youll have a door panel in your hand.

Thanks alot guys. =)
I'm going to post some pictures as soon as I can find the card for my camera. Damn Sony and their proprietary systems! If only it ran off SD cards like everything else I own. *laughs*
Okay, i'm heading outside in just a few minutes to finish off the wiring for my rear speaker LEDs, so i'll try your suggestions on the door while i'm out there. If it works, the front speaker grills will be next!
And i'm sure Redzman can't be that bad! Anyone with good advice can have any shape of head that they want. Don't be prejudiced against melons! tongue.gif
