Hey all! This is my first Post so ill try to make It a good one. My name is Marcus Winklepleck Most just call me winky. I am 23 And recently purchased a blue 2001 Tiburon. I spent the last 4 years in the military and now I drive for UPS in Portland, OR. I was big into the rotary scene from age 17 on. and decided to switch to something a bit more reliable and different. I hardly ever see Tibs in my area so i wanted to get one and do it up right. Ive just about worn out the search button in learning about the car so Iwill be starting my project soon. I am looking to build a car that I can drive everyday. Take to the track once in a while and then go show it off a bit. Ill probly ask a bunch or newb questions. The only pistons on my last car were part of the braking system and now the only rotors i have help me slow down and not go fast, but it looks like people on this site are a bit more forgiving the the othere sites i was on with my 7. Thanks all Ill be seeing you guys around

Marcus

Currently the only this I have done to the car is a full tune-up and a good alarm with remote keyless. I plan on intake exhaust. and i am looking into the best big power adder either turbo/nitrous or a SC/nitrous set up Id like to make as much out of the car without having to completly rip apart the engine yet. Ive read hundred of threads regarding exhaust and it looks like this platform has no real answer to the question which is the best exhaust for my car. So i am going to look into a custon 2.5 mandrel bent setup. I am holding off on headers till i make the decision on my turbo.

Ive seen a couple of sites regarding turbos and there HP claims. are those numbers before or after intake and exhaust have been added to the car?

The MBRP WAS the best you could get for us, but it's almost impossible to find now, as they stopped making them. There IS 2 of them for sale on the site right now if you look in For Sale.

The APEXI is now the current best, but we can't get it in the US anymore for some reason. I'm working on that issue, but hopefully the Hotshot setup will be out soon, it's going to be awesome.

Moteria makes a very acceptable exhaust for us also. You can find it at Importshark.com and Ebay.

Your custom exhaust is a very good idea too though, some show judges like name brands, many like CUSTOM everything.

Turbo HP #'s are usually...

1. Bloated and rated higher than you will get.
2. Rated on a mostly stock engine, or if the engine has mods, they don't list what mods it has so it sounds like the Kit did most of the extra HP.

Stay away from the Alpine turbos.

Welcome. Nice choice with the Tib. Keep us updated on all the mods you do. fing02.gif
Didn't want to stay with the Rotary and opt for the RX-8? smile.gif If i could get a second car that's probably what i'd buy.

I would have gotten an rx 8 but 32000 was i little out o my price range. I was in the Marines for 1 year and on submarines in the navy for 3 years.
