welcome.gif to the site! You'll find tons and tons of info here from over the years, so dont hesitate to ask any questions you have.
As to answer your questions so far...here goes:
1. As far as how much HP can you get out of it....thats like asking how many stars are there in the galaxy. The answer is endless....depending on how much money you want to put in the car. The Beta engine is a VERY strong platform to build on. There are 500, 600, 700 and up horsepower Betas running around through out the world. When going with forced induction (turbo, supercharge, nitrous), you can add some really insane power numbers.
For N/A mods (no forced induction), you can pretty much get close to around 200 horses, and that would include doing just about as much as you can, without adding a turbo or S/C.
2. As for the swap, it could be done fairly easily with the older Elantras, since the engines were pretty much made by Mitsu. The newer Elantras are 100% Hyundai, and the engine sits in backwards compared to a 4g63. Think of the Beta and 4g63 as distant cousins. You could swap in the other engine if you have enough money and time (hell...you could swap in a big block 350 if you had the money and time, but why do it?). With the time and money you would spend swapping in a 4g63, you could just put together a nice turbo kit alot cheaper, and get more power compared to the 4g63.
Hope this helped. If you have any other questions, ask away. smile.gif Good luck.
