Hey all I currently have a 2003 elantra gt and i am a member at both elantra forums but I am considering buying a tiburon that has been wrote off due to vandalism. Its a 99 se, 5 spd. Basically what I am wondering is if anyone had any ballpark ideas of what it would cost for repairs to the car. I would need headlights, tail lights, hatch glass, drivers quater glass, drivers window, and a windsheild. The body is full of dents but it will still pass the safety with dents. Oh I should mention I am from saskatchewan canada. So any help I can get from you all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well first of all there is no SE model. They only come in base and fx and I've never actually seen a base model tib(not saying there aren't any).

If you go by an autoglass shop they should be able to give you an estimate. New headlights alone are about $200-300 brand new, junk yards might be cheaper. Fenders and hood can be replaced either by stock fenders($75 I think each) and aftermarket hoods are about $300-$600. Dents in quarter panel you would have to have a body shop try and work out. Our quarter panels have to be cut out and welded back in to replace.

I'm not sure about the tails. I think you can get 'Euro tails for $80 some place. The stock lights look so much better on the 1st gen tibs so try to go with those .

I will see if I can call this autoglass place and get an estimate for you with out him coming to look at my car lol.

EDIT--> I have a guy looking it up, he'll call me when he knows

I would be careful about buying a write off car, if it was cheap to fix it the insurance would have done it already. I would guess you will be $1500-2000 into this car before you are on the road & it is no fun driving a dented up car around town!

Also there is an SE in Canada, in fact it is hard to find a tiburon here that isn't an SE...

That's interesting to know, none of the car sites I've looked at have it listed. I'm originally from canada so It's wierd I've never seen one.

Worst comes to worse, Buy it and part it out. How much are they asking for it? I know I need a manual tranny and bell housing to swap my auto out ;P

EDIT--> The guy called me back but I was unable to answer, and now his phone is off...
