Hey

I guess I have to make an introduction?

I need to start posting in the "Do It Yourself" portion because everything I'm doing, I'm doing myself. And since I'm pretty much brand new at this, everything is taking me a long time.

I'm trying to learn the engine and everything under the hood all by myself, since no one's around here that can teach me. I don't mind though, there's a lot of pride in it. But I do need quite a bit of help.

Welcome, take a look at the FAQ and before you ask too many questions, search first. most of the time the topic has already been covered.
Glad you found the site!

Hey,

I got my '00 Tib around August. Since then, I've been doing my best to teach myself all I can about cars. Before then, I didn't know a damn thing besides knowing how to drive one.

I've been learning since then but I can only do so much alone. Now, I'm still having a hard time understanding exactly how the engine works to the T, because I've only read about it - not seen it. Since I can't find any repair manuals or anything for the Tiburon, do any of you know where I can find one? That will help me know what I'm looking at.

Knowledge is power and I want all the power I can get out of my engine...

Thank you.

Stick around here, you'll get the hang of it..what is it you want to know exactly though, anything specific?
You can check out HowStuffWorks.com if you're interested in reading about like engines in general, turbos, the 4 cycles of an internal combustion engine, etc.

However, best way to learn I found is to just read stuff on the forums here, take stuff apart, buy mods for your car and install them yourself, etc.

welcome aboard.

howstuffworks.com is a very helpful tool. another good link would be Webtech. it is a great source of information for anything Hyundai.

and i moved this to off topic. the DIY forum is specifically for posting DIY instructions. i couldn't figure WHERE to put this

I'm sure there is someone in your area that you can get some help from. You're just not looking hard enough. wink1.gif

Update your profile with your location, I'm sure there is someone close to to give you a hand. Plus, that's what we're here for.

Keep in mind the DIY section is mostly for Following DIY's others have done. If you have a problem or question, post it in the correct forum (Engine and Transmission, Brakes and Suspension, etc)

We're all here to learn together so post up, welcome to the site. wave.gif

As the above posted check out webtech. (hmaservice.com) and howstuffworks.com, that'll give you a fair idea of how we get down. Are you looking for performance mods, basic maintenance, or what?
