Hello everyone. Looks like im back. just wanted to reintroduce myself. I am a proud 2000 Tiburon owner, bought her new off the lot in May of 2000. I must confess, i didnt know much about tuning when i bought the Tib. The pride of ownership of a slick looking coupe brought me to the internet as i was taking graphic design and web design courses in 1999 and 2000, and working for the previous 2 years as a drywall installation technician, (or drywaller if you wanna be a dick about it, lol), then later for a about a year and half as a roofer and siding technician, lol. I found amazing websites like fxtreme and hyundaiperformance that brought all of us underdogs together.
I come from a poor family, and to have my grandparents float me a loan to buy a new car to travel 100 miles a day to school and work, was a godsend. I quickly got bored of school as most punk 20 year olds do, and found myself in bootcamp for the Navy on August 22nd, 2001, with my brother, leaving for bootcamp on the same day, and training with him in the same division out in Great Lakes Illinois. After bootcamp i flew home and picked up the tib, with about 20,000 miles on her, and drove cross country with 2 navy buddies, from New York to San Diego. The tib was flawless. only problem ive ever had was a bad power steering pump at 30,000 and a cracked exhaust manifold, both were covered under warranty.
After a year in training in San Diego, i drove myself to Jacksonville Florida on orders to my first ship. I spent 5 years on the USS Carney, a destroyer out of Mayport. During that time, i swapped the autotragic transmission to a 5 speed, added a Valeo XTRM clutch and flywheel, Advanced R-Side shortshifter, and UR underdrive pulley. I got out of the Navy on August 21st, 2007, and spent a few more years there going to college and working at an exhaust shop, doing all sorts of maintenance from brakes to oil changes. mostly i was there to learn custom exhaust bending and welding. I learned alot as a shade tree mechanic.
More recently I moved to Norfolk, Virginia to spend some time with my brother, as he was helping me get out of financial trouble. Getting out of the Navy in 2007 during the recession was tough. Lockheed Martin recruiters were sad to inform me that i had departed from the Navy at a bad time, and they just could not hire me. So i got my finances in order, picked up a shitty retail job, and got back in school, which led me to meet a wonderful woman, who i am currently working for to help her renovate a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath cape cod style house. The money is good and the relationship is great.
Unfortunately, during my own personal recession, i neglected the Tib. She was slowly falling apart, as I was living the life of a poor college student trying to open a small videography business after i got out of the Navy. I drove on the worn and slipping Valeo XTRM clutch for almost 10,000 miles. The oil pan was leaking around the seal, and she needed brakes. 2009 was a year to forget in my opinion. My brother slowly helped me get out of debt, and get my car road worthy to get a job. This wonderful woman i met helped me to get back in college, and the future looks promising.
Hope springs eternal as she would say. I still say that saying is an incomplete sentence, but she thinks its complete. hahaha. well thanks for having me back, I have a new outlook on life, and a new outlook on the future of my RD2. If i can be of any assistance to anyone let me know. I have worked on hundreds of cars, also very intimate with the GK Tib as my brother bought one in 2004 and one upped me with a v6. I installed his headers, catback, flywheel, clutch, underdrive pulleys, and so many other things on that GK, i just cant remember all the mods. thanks again, hope to see you on the forums.

uhhhh.... no.... lol, first one i bought was from a junkyard who stripped a car for me and had ALL the parts i needed for the conversion, and then i broke my motormounts at the race track, which led to me snapping both axles at the differential, pissed MTX tranny fluid half way done the eighth mile track... hahaha it was like a half hour wet down ! people were pissed !!! so i bought the kspec motor mounts and i dropped a tranny in the rain at a local junkyard from a 99 elantra. thats whats in her now.
