Okay, it's been a while, but that's because i'm more of a reader.
(and i been busy rebuilding my motorcycle)
I'm Nico aka the C.U.Later, proud member of the Hyundai Club Nederland and the Hyundai Street Tuning Club here in Holland
I have a (technical) question!
My Coupé (yep, that's how a Tiburon is called here in Holland)
(it's a 2nd generation) acts funny when i try to start it.
In the morning after a good nights rest (but recently i found out it also does it with a warm engine) at first the starterengine turns for about 20 seconds, but the engine does not start. (it used to start right away) So i turn back the key and try again, then the starterengine turns and locks, like if it hasn't enough power to overcome the compression. (so again i turn back the key and start again) It does that several times and then after, sometimes, 5 or 6 times the starterengine keeps on turning again and (after about 6 till 10 seconds starting time, so much longer than nomal) the engine finaly the comes to life.
At first i thought it was the starterengine, (worn out Bendix or so)but my garage said that wasn't it.
They (it's not a Hyundai dealer, they tend to repair al sorts of cars) said they attached a loose connecter and started the engine about 20 times with no problems.
But, you guessed it, it still has the same problems. Then they phoned a Hyundai dealer, and there they heard that perhaps it had something to do with the key
And because my girlfriend had a key that was slightly bend she changed keys with me (she drives the car more then i do) But the problem is stil there. mad.gif
My car is equipped with an aftermarket muffler (mounted on stock frontpipe) K&N 57i kit and Iridium sparkplugs.
No other mods made to the engine, it's a '99 model with 100.000 km. on the clock
and it recently had it's timing chain (belt) replaced.
Hope someone can help me here

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (REDZMAN @ Aug 26 2005, 10:08 PM)</div><div class='quotemain'>Hmm, have you checked the starter? Sounds like it might be on it's way out.

That's what i though, but the mechanic said that wasn't it, the starter sounds and works just fine.
Kinda funny, this morning it started the first time my girlfriend turned the key sad.gif

Welcome to the site!
Where is your battery? Did you changed or extended wires?
There can be bad connection of the wires and on terminals of the battery, also bad ground.

Today i picked up my car at the garage, the starting problem is finaly solved.
Turned out that both the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor were broke !
So it wasn't the starterengine after all!
