Hey Guys, No Tib Yet But Looking
Hey Guys, Just introducing myself here... I am looking into buying a rd2 tiburon and came to the forums to gain a little more knowledge on the hyundai powertrain. I come from chico california so if their are any members in the area that wouldnt mind showing me a few things that would be awesome too! thanks guys and I look forward to being a part of the forum!
Thanks a lot guys for the welcome.... I would never buy an automatic in a car like this!! What kind of problems can i expect from a car in the 70-90,000 mile range, like what I'll be looking into buying?
What kinda gas mileage is to be expected from the average RD2?
Are parts expensive to buy for hyundai's? I heard that a while ago they were really expensive, just wondering what it's like now.
I'm guessing being that these are newer cars that they're OBD2 Compliant, am I right?
Thanks guys, im sure I'll think of a bunch more

Well a lot of people would tell you to search but Ill be nice and spare you from having to do that lol.
Gas mileage with the tibs is 31mpg highway and 26mpg city..but itll vary with the way you drive it.
Yes, the tibs are OBD2 compliant.
Parts arent really expensive anymore..just a little harder to get sometimes.
If your going to buy the tib at that mileage just make sure everything is in running order. If you can then take it to a mechanic so he can give you the all clear. Cars with high mileage might have hidden problems. If the tib was well maintained you should be okay.
Good luck!

Hopefully the timing belt has already been changed but if not then you'll need to do that. (Regular maintenance)
Wheel bearings probably need to be replaced soon. It's pretty common with our cars.
From there just other regular maintenance... i.e. plugs, wires, fluids
Gas mileage should be about 27mpg ish. A lot of people get better though.
All car after 1995 are OBD2 I do believe and even if I'm wrong on that the answer is still yes.
Welcome to the site.
Edit: grr... you beat me to the punch SwiftTiburon

Thanks man, I have been on the forums for about a week now searching around and reading up where I can. I've posted in the wanted to buy section hoping to get a feeler out for what's in the market in my price range! thanks!
You guys are quick tonight!
And one more question.... Did the RD2's have the infinity sound system available in them?

Well Im bored and thats why Im quick tonight lol.
I dont think they came with that sound system. Doesnt matter though, music still sounds great in the tib..dont even really need a system, imo.
