Hey
Figured i'd stop in and see what the fuss is all about. Caught wind of this place over on Hyundaiperformance and decided to come check it out. We've been working on an 02 Accent GSI. Last year we decided to see what we could do with the Stock LC2 with just fuel control and pushed it to 200HP before breaking the ringlands on all four pistons with a best 1/4mile time of 14.9@96MPH on a slipping stock clutch letting out at the top end and a small amount of boost. For 2009 We'll be coming back with a decent list of mods as well as Standalone engine management (going to use MSII V3.57) in hopes of a reliable mid 12 second or better accent.
Cheers

Nice!
I can't wait to see the progress.
Just out of curiosity what was limiting the LC2 to a 14.9 with 200hp? With 200hp it should have been down into the low 13's. To be perfectly clear I'm not calling bs, I really want to know what the issue was. A GK Tiburon with 200hp can run a 14.9 or better even 750 pounds heavier.

A number of things were limiting us to the slower 1/4mile time, VERY soft launches on 16" street tires (launching off idle and not really nailing it till second gear), granny shifting and letting out at the top end due to the massive clutch slippage @ the top end.
Everything was stock except the custom turbo kit, the injectors and the ghetto apexi-neo. Next season we're going in with a built block, ported head, stiffer valve springs, custom intake manifold with a 75MM GM throttle body, custom clutch, adding a return Fuel system with a Walbro 255lph pump 65lb/hr injectors and the standalone. I'd really like to do a LSD install in the trans as well but we'll see. We will be keeping the compression ratio around 9.5:1 to aid out of boost driving and spool time on the T3/T4 60trim turbo.

Nice that should be a lot of fun. smile.gif
Are you planning on making parts to sell, or is it just a project for racing only?
If you need any help getting something done post up. One thing I would suggest is running a Beta tranny. Not only is it stronger but you can bolt in a Quaife LSD which should make a big difference.
