I thank all who replied for your comments, suggestions, and other input. At least now, I have an idea of what to look for and what to expect.

And of course, I will keep you posted on any mods I do and come back with more questions I'm sure to have.

Thanks guys! (and girls?)

Ack! One more question... smile.gif

In the resonator DIY article, it says to remove the air duct but doesn't say to put it back smile.gif Seems to me that I would still want that in till I get a CAI setup correct? Otherwise I would be just pulling in hot air from the engine compartment, correct?

yea dude... traditionally when you take something apart to work on it, when you are done you put everything back the way it was. until you get the CAI (if you get the CAI) just do the resonator removal.... it just makes a little more noise under the hood... but nothing compared to that deep growl you will get from a CAI....

No, you do not replace the air duct. If you look closely at this, it is right behind the rubber that seals the hood to the body. It is not going to be getting in very much cold air anyway.

You are sucking in hot air from the engine compartment, this is why a CAI is so much better.

If you do the mod, you will be happy with it untill you get the CAI.

Ok I just did it. smile.gif

I did however put the duct back after covering up the holes where the 2 resonators were. I also noticed that there is a small vent in front of the air ducts intake to move the air around the weatherstrip, so I figured why not just put it back for now smile.gif Then again, it doesnt make a very good seal on the air cleaner box so it prolly is pointless but hey...give it a week and a half and CAI will be in. Got some questions about that too but I will do a new post for that....as i try to keep things on topic. smile.gif

Thanks for the help!

Rendition, don't double post mang, Cardinal Rule here. I'll fix this one, but don't do it. If you have more to add to your previous post, use the EDIT button.

Why did you put the resonators back on? You have to take them off to put on the CAI as it is, not to mention even though it's warmer air it's getting in, it's MUCH less restrictive so you gain power.

And sound.

Yes, you'd be great without it.

While you are at it, for a slightly lower engine temp, take out the hood seal.

Another free DIY, the Coolant Bypass. Try it.

this double-posting crime... is it because editing saves up space on the server? does there have to be a post in between yours even if the post in between has nothing to do with anything? nor any responds to your post? -there should be a scrolling banner at the top of the forum screen yielding people in advance to try and single-post. a reminder kind of like a road sign... maybe that'll prevent these things from happening and we can all be on our way.

... about the CAI, is there a way to lower the sound level of it (say a silencer) and how can that be done? thanks.

Why the fvck would you want to do that? The sound is 1 of the reasons that people put them on!

Col96, word.

HyundaikitCoupe, it's because it's annoying and useless. Folks forget one thing they wanted to say in a post and instead of editing it, they just post again. And again.

Next thing you know you have a one person conversation asking 20 questions.

Stick around forums for awhile, you'll see why it's a rule almost everywhere.

On RD they are only allowed if a Mod or Admin says it's okay, in the For Sale or Wanted section, or even the Group Buy section to "Bump" something or add new info that everyone involved may need to see or need quick action on.
