Block Drain

My daughter just inherited a 97 FX with the 2.0. Car only has 36,000 miles. Don't know anything about these things. I'm a V-8 and air cooled VW guy. I want to replace the coolant and I'm searching for the block drain. Found a plug kinda between the oil filter and dipstick tube. Need an Allen wrench to remove it. Did I hit the jackpot? Also checked the timing belt today. Looks great. It's a Gates belt. Did these things come from the factory with Gates? It does have some Oriental writing on it. Thanks....Paul

There isn't one that I know of. To drain your coolant, look at the front passenger corner of the radiator and you'll find the draincock.

Essentially, the timing belt is good up to way more than 100K kms or 60K miles.. but it is recommended to change it on/around that time

The car was inherited from a 70 year old cousin. It's full of the scrapes and dinds associated with someone who should not have been driving anymore, but will be a great car for my daughter to take to her last year of college. She also ha s a 1974 VW Beetle. It wasn't really designed to do 75mph down the interstate for 5 hours. As for me, I'm not very fond of cars with computers, sensors, etc. I have a 1965 Dodge truck and 1970 VW Karmann Ghia. Both driven regularly.
