B & G Springs
Hey. i bought those B G loweering springs for my 01 i4 tiburon. they lower 1.75 front and rear. i went to the shop and they wouldn't put them in unless i had matching struts/shocks cuz they said the potholes around here will displace them or soemthing. do i need to worry about buying some kyb's or can i put em on stock? i want to lower it reall bad and have read the threads about this b4, but what i don['t understand is how he said it'll become unset on the cup or something. can i get a explanation or reason. thanks guys

what are there potholes every 2 feet on your roads.
you'll be fine w/ lowering springs on stock struts for a little bit (few months)...IF you don't drive like an idiot.
I'm on stock struts w/ 1.25" drop and my stock struts have held up fine (for a month and a half now).
Tell that guy to shove it and do the installation youself, just get a spring compressor and the rest is just sockets and a socket wrench (although an air tool would help, and a lift but it can be done on jackstands....I'm switching my exhaust to MBRP on jackstands as we speak! smile.gif )

I give OEM struts 6-9 months before they feel like mush.
I can see where that guy is coming from too, cuz you'll be going back again with in a year to put another set of struts on, unless you like your crappy ride.

thanks for the quick responses guys. yeah im in the army, headin to germany in july or so. the roads here around fort polk really are pretty freakin bad mad.gif . they'be been rated worst in the country. its a very very rough ride to begin with so i guess i'll wait till i get to germany to put em on. and i have been reading all the forums for about a month now and i thought 01's were i4's but i just rented GT4 and it showed a 2001 tiburon that was a gt v6. i thought the 6's didn't even come out until 03?! is gt wrong, and if so what a mistake right? the 01 model even has dual exhaust
I have the same B&G springs and I've had them on for about umm 8+ months. I have not replaced the stock shocks yet, I keep trying to buy some but my b/f tells me to not spend the money until I actually need them. I say you do them yourself, it's not that hard, I did it myself w/ some help from my bf b/c he's a lot stronger than me and if I can do them, anyone can. Our roads are pretty bad too around here but so far so good.
