Default Is XM / Sirius Worth it?

I'm thinking about adding XM or Sirius to my system... I want to hear from people who have it, how they like it. I've listened in the stores, but you guys know how that goes. What are the advantages of XM over Sirius, or vice-virsa? I would think it would be better to just buy a new head unit, so I wouldn't have one of those things screwed on my dash. I wanted to know from the dance music people, are the dance stations good, or is it just crap I could hear on my local stations saturday night "dance" shows? How much punk music do they play on rock stations? Is there any kind of good rap stations, like that play old Dr. Dre and Run DMC?

Any opinions are welcomed! Thanks!

there are good rap stations and everything. There is good signal strength (so music actually sounds good as opposed to radio. i wish i hadnt spent so much on the xm antannae thing though... you can buy a lot of cd's ( or burn em) for that kinda price...

a better investment would be one of those cd players that have a hard drive you can transfer mp3's into IMO

I was really interested in XM for a while, but they have NO PUNK CHANNELS! they have a couple techno (BPM and some other one) as far as that goes... someone just told me a couple weeks ago that the FCC just deemed Digital Satellite FM available for companies to use now, as in, if a company wants to pay, they can broadcast for us to listen to for free. I'm just not sure what kind of application will be sold to receive the channels.

Punk will never die (even if it's now te kind of music I like)

I read an article in an Audio magazines. They said XM is better than Sirius, after comparing many characteristics.

I've been looking into this for a while now and I've decided that I'm going to get sirius instead of XM for a couple of reasons. First, even if XM stations are comercial free, they are still sponsore by an advertiser so you still here ads. Second, the satellites that XM uses are in orbit near the equador so they need several thousand repeaters on the ground to gt places like cities where they are not high enough to get a proper angle. Sirius places there satelites much higher. Also sirius claims higher quality broadcasts that XM. The only thing I'm waiting for is Alpine to make a sirius tuner box.

I was looking into XM as well for my new stereo set up. I plan on getting rid of CDs all together and going XM and Neo 20GB MP3 Jukebox. I have heard nothing but great things about XM. I heard it still has a few comercials and costs something like $10/month and sirus is completely comercial free and costs $13/month. Hope that helps a bit.
