Winding Noise

well when i accelerate i hear a winding noise coming through my speakers.have no idea why?

i get that when i use my fm transmitter for my ipod?
im not quite sure what it is either???

does yours do it no matter what?? or just when your listening to the radio?

That's normally caused by the alternator (also refered to as an audible tach) on a lot of aftermarket radios with the pre-amp outputs. Get an inline filter for your power input to the radio. That should clear up your problem. You can pick one up at any auto-sound shop or Radio Shack.

^^ Exact-a-mundo! Are you running an amp?? you can also pick up an inline noise filter that goes between the headunit and the amps via the RCA's. Also, if you ARE running amps in your car, make sure that the RCA cables do not run parallel to the main power wire back to the amp. You should run the power down one side of the car and the RCA's down the other side. If they must cross, try to make it a 90 degree angle. This will also help cut down on the alternator whine.
