Just wondering how many people have had their cars broken into. Was anything stolen? How much damage was done? Alarm or no alarm?
i had my srt-4 broken into once and the window 'shot out' once. had to replace a window each time, but nothing else damaged.
the people stole a 20$ walmart inverter, yet unplugged the 150$ DVD player from it before they took it. they left me a mini MAG light and a hammer.
didn't have an alarm at the time other than the ineffective stocker.
got a proxy alarm after that and never had a bit of trouble.

Never had my car broken into (knock on wood), but then again....I've always had a garage...even before I had my house built, when I lived in a couple of condos. smile.gif
I did have one of my lowrider trucks broken into though when I had them. Window was shattered and they ripped out my Kenwood deck. It was a night that I stayed over at a girlfriends house, at the time...and forgot to arm my alarm. rant2.gif disappointed.gif

Only once and it was back in december. They busted out the driver side window and took my coolection of cd's that were not normally in my car, about 300 cd's or so. And of course it was raining all night an into the morning, with no window... bastards I freakin hate thieves, I rank them as low as child molesters.

Had my cougar broken into. It had a cheap shock and voltage sensitive alarm that sat on the battery and would go off when the dome light turned on or when there was enough shock. In other words, not very effective.
As best as I could tell this is the course of events:
They used a crowbar to pry open the driver's side door.
The alarm went off.
They popped the hood.
Their only tool was a crowbar. They physically twisted the battery around until the wires were tight enough to snap with the crowbar. They could have just unclipped the alarm from the terminals.
Alarm was still going off, so they finally unclipped the alarm.
Now, they wanted to open the passenger's side door, but without being able to use the power door locks they had to open it with a crowbar.
They tried to pop the trunk using the button in the glove box. Unfortunately for them, with the battery out it would not pop the trunk.
They attempted to crowbar open the trunk, but the plastic bumper would not give them the leverage required.
They went inside of the car and using the crowbar removed the rear seat back. This is not a fold down seat and it did a lot of damage.
They pried off two Jensen amplifiers. One was $150 new, the other $225 new. Probably worth less than $75 used, pried out of place.
They attempted to get the sub box out through the factory X-bracing behind the seat, but there was no way.
They also stole the Pioneer head unit I has in the car.
All told, they stole about $450 MSRP worth of stuff and did about $2500 worth of damage to a car worth about $1500.
I also had the Accent broken into.
My alarm started "falsing" a lot for a couple of months. I tried to adjust the sensitivity, but even after it was set to not be very sensitive it kept going off at random times. Eventually I got tired of it and quit arming the alarm. That was a big mistake. The alarm was not falsing at all, I was being set up. The next day I came out to leave and go to HIN and the driver's side window was broken out. They got my Kenwood stereo (I had pulled the face but left it in the glove box like an idiot), my Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 amp, my Kicker S15L5 in a sealed box, all the change from my ash tray, and IIRC a few other minor things.
It really sucked, but I will at least give them credit for doing very little damage aside from what was required to take the stuff. These people were pros, unlike the total amateurs that hit the Cougar.
