What sub box design works well in the Tiburon?

Does everyone aim there subs towards the back of the trunk?

I have seen a few boxes on e-bay that are designed for the Tib where the subs fire up towards the hatch.

Which design works better in the Tib?

it is best to fire towards the back. if you fire the subs towards the front you hear the bass more than feel it. towards the back gives a longer wave length which overall is better for spl and clarity. unless you have rattling pannels in the back. i fire my sub towards the glass and the port fires to the back of the back seats. it was designed for 2 different tuning frequencies that way. the box was designed by JL audio aswell. so it is proper for my JL 12W7.

from my experience, i found a system sounds best facing back and at an angle towards the glass.

i had my box designed at i believe a 60 degree angle.

^^ Word, up and towards the glass. Mine is pointing sideways because it saves room and allows me to access my spare tire for manditory army vehicle inspections.

When I put mine toward the back i felt the bass punching more than heard it, and when it faces toward the front it hears more the sound of the bass than felting the punching, so depnds of what you want...

i have found out with a sealed box its best to have the subs facing the glass with the same angle which means u need a trapezoid box. if using a ported box its better to face the ports to the rear.

Its all about application man. First you have to consider what kindof music you like and exactly what frequency range the bass note would be played at. < More technical then it sounds. But also what type of enclosure you are using (make sure it corisponds to the sub) along with the rest of your speakers. Ported boxes will play a different frequency (bass note) then a sealed would. So you have to think about your mid bass and sub bass playing into the car in general.

However if you want spl, aim the thing towards the back angled at the glass as said already.

Any more questions throughem out!

Thanks for you help guys

I will probably build a sealed one, they seem to sound the best. What do you think?

Sealed has the better sound quality ported has more volume.

Since we are talking about placing subs...

If you are going to have a heavy sub box in your car and it seems best to face the rear, and you have no rear seats, where is the best place for the box for weight distribution in the car?

Right behind rear seats, further in the back, or somewhere in the middle?

Is it important enough to consider placement? I am thinking between 75 to 100 lbs with everything installed.
