Well Well Well.. This Doesnt Happen Every Day !

Also when going from 4-2ohm you dont DOUBLE the resistance of the circuit, you HALVE it. In fact the reason the amp puts out more power the lower the resistance is because just that; the lower the ohm, the more power is allowed through the device, but is more unstable and generates more heat, etc. The higher the ohm, the more restriction, less current is allowed through, but safer operation and more stable.
Yeah I stand corrected smile.gif that's what I meant.
Basically you make the circuit harder to push and put more strain on the amp.
It's been 6 years since Ive been into this stuff laugh.gif
Oooo freaky ! lol we posted at pretty much the same time lmao.gif
Yeah maybe the solobaric will go.. who knows? I suppose hearing is believing..
I've never really been one for oddball subs neither, give me a nice round one with preferably 2 spiders..
But here's the thing.. last year when I was properly poor (lol) I had a ford taurus (see? wink1.gif ) and I wanted a small system, and Im talking $110 small.
So I went on sonic and ordered a clearance bazooka triangular sub for $29.99 and it's awesome, it truly is lovely.. lovely deep warm woomy sound..
The small amp I got for it (phoenix digital.. yeah ok you can laugh laugh.gif ) is going to be used to drive my rear 6x9s for now.. the ZX200 will drive the kicker at 2ohms (500 watt RMS for $127.50 is serious bang for the buck, plus it's just had a complete service and a brand new fan installed in it too smile.gif )
I've only spent about $400 total, that included the solobaric, the amp, the 4awg wiring and the enclosure, also new battery terminals and amp spade clips.
It's not bad tbh, only other money I have spent so far is $45 for a set of audiobahn 6x9s (bassless but hit very hard, good for high range and cheap to boot)
All I need now is a active crossover to drop the low level signal, the PG I bought was totally modular back then and doesnt have any kind of a crossover in it or on it smile.gif
why is it that every time I quote someone directly above me its not cool but then the same happens with someone else and nothing is said?
mmmm
and you thought your amp was rare...
man i love phoenix gold amps the subs are meh but phoenix gold amps mmm sexy
they remind me of the old bulletproof jensen amps from back in the day
what i wanna do is get 2 15 inch memphis subs and connect a phoenix gold amp to it

LOL ooooo ! the irresponsible amp laugh.gif
My outlaw was like that, it was 2 amps in one that could power an ENTIRE system lmao.
Cost? around $3000 shipped to the UK with fedex 2 day in a large wooden crate.. them were the days laugh.gif
My system then was evil, I reakon it cost me close to $13k lmao.. and about $3000 of that was in cabling (0 gauge anyone?)
Oh how nice it is to be irresponsible, earning $60k a year and living at home with mummy.. the only bills I had were phone, cable and lec.. lol.
These days I want to be more responsible.. however its still got the wild side.. the amp I found out is 300w RMS mono at 4 ohms so thats gonna be 600w RMS mono at 2ohm, which is the subs RMS power.. nice match smile.gif
One thing thats a bit of a sod is that it doesnt have any active XO circuitry (those days it was all modular) but for $20 shipped I can get a bass XO (active) locked at 40hz and down.. mmm can you say deep?
I cant wait in honesty, just ordered all the cabling (another $60.. 4 awg back to the distro blocks, new battery terminals and all kinds of nice gold plated ends.. sweet laugh.gif laugh.gif )
Yeah their subs are whack.. seriously whack.. they never did look very good and I tried them out once (the old zeropoints.. ) one ripped and the other popped a coil within the first week.
I have always sworn by Cerwin Vega subs.. but since they were taken over by stanton theyre nowhere near as good as they once were 02.gif
The last truly decent sub to come out of CV was the Vega ! the guys I knew there swore on their mother they would never make "one of them stupid f***ing clumsy sounding inner tube speakers !" and as soon as the company sold and was taken over by stanton they turn the stroker into just that.
Those fat surround subs with all the XMAX sure do drop bass but clarity? what clarity, there isnt any there, theres no accuracy its just a stupid big air piston.

Back in those days you would have a gigantic alternator and a few truck batteries rofl.
And you would have it permanently connected to a charger at sound offs.
Those were most definitely the days haha, none of this new fangled capactitor in your car laugh.gif
