will rd2 interior vents fit the rd1 holes?
in the dash and door panels.
i love the slightly diff styling and those chrome rings

 

door panels yes, dash no.

btw, Rd2 door panel vents don't have the chrome rings...

Just tape it off and paint the outer edge of the vents in your rd1 silver/gray/chrome like I did. looks nice.

 

ask chris, he swapped his dash. i believe you can put a second gen dash and replace the first gen one although i like the first gen a ton better.

(probably asking why, but i think the first gens are sleek and simple instead of complicated and useless shapes and squares, for example the two curves that go nowhere at the top of the dash wtf)

 

I love my tibs dash. but vens arn't removable on it without pretty much the whole piece surrounding them

 

ya, tape off and paint, or do the extra work and pull them out and paint. I wouldn't want paint in my car.

 

No when I said "tape off and paint" I meant REMOVE the vents from the dash piece they are in (or in the case of the door the little curved cylinder they are in).

THEN tape off everything but the outer rim of the vents (you need skeelz to make it a paerfect circle). wink1.gif

THEN paint.

BUt anyway, back to zoned019's topic. ALL VENTS are removable from the piece they are held in (RD1 and RD2). Just takes skeelz...like above^^ rolleyes.gif

I'm sure YOU know zoned, just gotta pop them out of the dash. (there is no point in swapping RD1 door vents for RD2's)...The doors on the RD2 and one are practically the same (minus the marker light on the RD2's).

For the Rd2 DASH vents you can't simply pop them out and put them in your RD1 dash. I'm pretty sure they are shaped differently and will look funny even if you do get them into the RD1 dash.

If you REALLy want rd2 chrome ring vents you will need to swap the RD2 dash piece along with it. That means, RD2 HVAC controls, RD2 radio surround, RD2 shifter surround, and Rd2 wiring harnesses for all the buttons...

Well, guess that's not gonna happen...

I wish I had enough ambition/skills to swap an entire crashpad.
Or there was an easy way to utilize rd1 wiring with an rd2 dash.
