do you guy's know what i'm talkin' about when i say the black felt stuff atached to the underside of the hood ??
what is thyat there for and can i take it off it's so ugly ?

 

More than anything it's purpose is likely to deaden sound. It may also insulate the hood from the heat of the engine. Maybe if you remove it the paint on the hood will deteriorate faster than normal. Someone here has probably done it. Hopefully they will let you know if there were any down sides to doing it.
