Default Re: Gauge Group Buy GREAT DEAL from Splitfire!! NOW TAKING M

Ok..
Since my last post..

Well
I now have an 8 speaker system

i also got rid of one of my amps (a legacy one) and picked up a 1200 watt ma audio amp

So now.. i got like mad bass yO

Anyways..

I need help tuning my components

Do you guys have any good links that will give me a quick run through all the different frequency settings?

I had it down pretty well with my old pioneer head unit... but once i installed my new bad boy
http://soundmart.zoovy.com/product/DEHP860MP
well everything started going haywire..

Dont get me wrong.. it sounds a lot louder..
Its just
My 6" have too much bass..
my 6x9s sound too deep

I think i popped a tweeter already (its getting bass too)

Ugh..
Anyhelp?

I can adjust the settings on the stereo.. and the amps.

Or does any one here have a ball park figure as to where i should have my speakers set at?

tweets?
6's?
6x9s?
12's?

BTW.. this new stereo also has a setting called bbc i think.. anyway.. this is new.
Ive been around pioneer head units for a while now and ive never seen this setting before..
anyone care to explain?

Anyways..
thanx a lot guys
oops.gif

My main concern here is just using the dam filters..
Plus my tweets have built in filters (although they were that good).. anyways.. i know that matters to a certain extent.

i think my problems lies here in these options
SFEQ (Sound Focus EQ)
Additional Independent Bass / Treble Control for Front / Rear
Two-Way Crossover
Front/Rear HPF (50/80/125Hz, -12dB/oct)
Selectable LPF (Low Pass Filter) (50/80/125Hz, -18dB/oct)
Sub-Out Level (-12dB to +12dB) and, Phase Control

what do you have powered with amps? alot of amps now come with electronic crossovers, so you can adjust it HP, LP or both with one of the dials on the side of the amp.

for the subs, i would keep the LPF set at like 100.

Default Re: Pyle of sound or Pyle of crap?

I have all speakers powered by the amps

The 12s are on lpf

the tweets are on hpf

the 6's and 12's are on full

I just figured out how to remove the bass from the front units..

Not sure how i did it.. but it was with the filter on the head unit..

that thing kicks serious arse

Plus i just realized that i can upload a porn to the stereo and play it as a screen saver while i drive

WOOT!
j/k

What tweets are they, and what is the hi pass freq you are using?Hi pass xovers for the tweets are EVEN MORE IMPORTANT then for the other speakers!! Why? Tweets can't handle freq's that are too low. When I say too low I mean like below 2KHz.If you get freq's too low in the tweets you will pop'em pretty easily.Easier then if you overpowered them.

The 6's need to be hi passed somewhere between 50Hz and 150Hz, depending on what kida bass they can handle and how you want it to sound. The 12's I thought you said are being low passed? They need to be if they are not.The xover point for the subs will have to be played with a bit.

Probably by doing what I just said.Hi pass the 6's.

.............................If you are using the hu xovers, make sure the xovers on the amp are turned off.At least the one(s) that corrospond to the particular RCA ch that is being xovered by the hu.

If you have both xovers on for a particular ch, then you will not have an accurate xover point. And,things will probably not sound right to you.

Jeese.....................I feel like I need to take a trip to Cali and straighten you out!!

8)

my tweeters have built in crossovers

they were fine with my previous head unit.. but now.. ugh.. i dunno

sso 2khz for the tweeters is bad..

Im guessing the higher the number 150khz-200khz the better right?

Ok kool
I really need numbers right now..

I have no clue what "Range" to place each speaker on..

Thanx for the suggestion on the 6's

My dumbass does have crossovers on both ends (amp and stereo) right now so i guess ill disable one

I trust the head unit over the rest so ill go ahead and do that.

LOL!!! 150KHz-200KHz??? nobody can hear that hi up.I don't think dogs can hear that hi either. lol.gif

The human hearing range is: 20Hz(bass)-20KHz(trebble)

What do you mean that the tweeters have built in xovers?? Are they factory tweeters?

lol, no man.

the higher the number, the higher the frequency. the higher the frequency, the higher-pitched the sound.

tweets cant reproduce low sounds, so they need crossovers(high pass filters) that will filter out lower frequncies. just the same, high frquencies can damage subs, so they need crossovers(low pass filters) to get rid of the higher frequencies.
