I would like to take out the stock single unit cd player and throw in an lcd touch screen cd player and have it fit nicely into the stock housing. do they make just simple touch screen cd players without any fancy gadgets or am i too far into the future on this?
i hate all those y2k cd players on shelves now. a touch screen with volume controls and settings why don't they have those on the damn market it's simple, cheap, and no pressing knobs and reading small numbers.
i don't want anything expensive, just a touch screen cd player you can hook up and fit nicely. i'd rather it not be a dumb flip screen. i'm not all about having videogames or television in my car because i don't think that's what cars are for and i wouldn't give up my life to shrek.
anything like this possible? anyone have anything to recommend? again, no dvd player crap, no gps crap, no flip screen moving up down in and out, nothing fancy with knobs just simple on/off volume...etc. cool.gif

yeah clarion and alpine both make flip screen dvd players, but if you think about it those things are pretty dated out. might have been really popular in 2001-2006 and they probably won't fit inside of our radio space. i'd like a nice compact screen with just a cd slot. once you put the cd in, screen turns on and you're off!
if something as small as an ipod can do it, and a cellphone can surf the web, why can't there be a damn simple touch screen cd player? no wonder people are getting their eyes checked all the time, numbers, buttons, and dials are getting smaller and smaller. i'd invent a touch screen cd player and call it "cd player for dumbass and elderly". why should i pay for something i won't use, like gps service, or internet service? just another bill to me. i have not see one simple cd player with a nice big screen with nice big easy buttons. everything has to be small and you have to look at a complicated owner's manual to learn how to use it. to drive you steer, brake, and give gas. why can't the damn cd player be that simple? press button > turn on > listen to music > turn off. blaaaah!!!
i think i'm just 10 years into the future here... the companies want to make the most out of using these old buttons and dials before dimming the final light...

why would u want a touchscreen that wasnt flip up. if you have stationary it makes your car more of a target for theifs. and as far as my knowledge goes the only place to get a resonable priced tv is sonicelectronix.com or mp3player.com they allways have the best prices of the quality sellers on ebay.

^hahahah, i just don't want it to look like an attachment, just an extra purchase i got for the car. i want it to look like K.I.T. from Knight Rider. You'll never see flip screens on concept cars. everything else to me is electric rice. thieves want flip screens and car pc's, that's why all i need is a small simple built in screen. they can't see sh*t through my tint, but they know it's a hyundai with nothing inside.
yeah carpc is about as close as i can get, but that still leaves the question hanging: why aren't there any simple touch screen cd players? i could get Mattel® to make one damnit.
i've got to ask the new girl what she's going to get... there is this guy who installed his portable mac ecu in his car and programmed it to understand the car along with the touch screen lcd. it's pretty cool i'll post it up here.

lol,
you dont have to pay for gps or internet service. satellite radio is the only thing i would have to pay for.
gps is free, and internet you just park next to a starbucks if you want to.

^^ it's a one time purchase. I have a incar voice nav system. It's the same system the military uses as well as search and rescue teams. It's GPS. It uses satellites that put out a signal and locate your position. It would basically be like paying for high frequency AM radio.
