I've got the rear fog light switch from the UK tibs, and I've wired it so it will power my haloz on and off (the front fog light switch is for angel eyes wink1.gif).
It works and everything, but I want the little light on the switch to turn on when I push it. You know, that little "activated" light that your cruise, defrost, etc has. It won't go on for some reason...
I'm thinking it's because where the wire would go to the rear fogs (but our US tibs don't have them or even have a place for a fuse to go for them) isn't connected to anything. I just used a wire tap to connect into it and that's how my haloz work. Maybe I have to cut the wire and go DIRECTLY to the haloz?
Or maybe this is something with the ground, there's one all black wire on the switch, but I didn't worry about it, I grounded my haloz separately and gave the switch it's power from the parking lights from the dimmer harness which also has its own ground.
So I'm confused.
thanks!

hook up a 9v battery to some alligator clips, and get to testing. clip one lead, and go around probing others until it lights up. repeat for each pin until you find the right ones.
its probably on a completely different circuit than the actual contacts that switch on your haloz. the switch closes two contacts, your haloz and the activation light, but they are totally seperate.

or light burned out.
as you're looking at the switch pins, the bottom left brass pin needs ground or ACC+ to turn on the lights, can't remember which. probly isn't hooked up if the lamps work fine. try both, won't hurt.

See the thing is that I tested continuity with a multimeter to figure out what pins to hook them up to when the switch was open/closed.
the pin arrangement on the switch is like this
1.............6
2...3...4...5
1 is my + for the switch (i tapped into it and ran a wire from it to the parking lights)
2 is my + for the haloz
3 is a black wire (??)
4 is the + for illumination
5 is blank, no wire
6 is the ground for the illumination
so what could it be?
it HAS to be something to do with 1, 2, or 3..right?
but I am giving power to 1, so that should be ok (and it works fine, so)
my haloz are getting power from 2 and they do work fine as well
I guess I don't know what 3 is, it's just a black wire..
so what would you suggest I do?

okay, after trying a few things which didn't work curiousity got the best of me and I decided to ground the black wire which is going into the switch.
Got a wire tap and grounded that black wire.
Hooray! the little light turned on when I pushed the switch.
Too bad it made my haloz go off..weird? If I ground the black wire it shuts my haloz off, as soon as I remove that ground from the black wire the haloz come back on..wtf?
I'm really confused now...
the only way to get the haloz to work of course is to ground them
and the only way to get the activation light to work is to ground the black wire
but if they're both grounded only the activation light works ... ????
okay so it goes like this..
1 is the + for the switch (connected to parking lights)
2 is the + going to the haloz
3 is left alone
this setup works, BUT my activation light won't go on
so I did this..
1 is + for the switch (connected to parking lights)
2 is the + going to the haloz
3 is grounded
this setup makes my activation light work, but my haloz won't go on
so I tried this..
1 is + going to the haloz
2 is + for the switch (connected to parking lights)
3 is left alone
this setup also works, but my activation light won't go on
so lastly I tried this..
1 is + going to the haloz
2 is + for the switch (connected to parking lights)
3 is grounded
and this short circuits the whole system and blows my fuse under the hood
I really need to finish this today........someone please help!
please go to chat if anyone has any ideas..*cough tibby01 the tib electrician god hail.gif*

ground 3, tap haloz off of same line as the fogs. that's the simplest. haloz and fogs will be on at the same time.
it's not ment to be a DPDT switch, it's a SPDT which leaves you little choice other then to have the halos on with the fogs, or on without fogs and dim with fogs.
do you have an LED mod done to the lamp?

Don't you mean its a DPST???
I can't wire it to the fogs because I want the angel eyes (front foglight switch) to come in when the PARKING LIGHTS do, not when the headlights do (how fogs normally would). And the second part of my job is to make the VENT haloz come in with the rear foglight switch. The problem here is that the rear foglight switch doesn't even have any wiring that really does anything, I mean it illuminates when its plugged in but thats it, there is no fuse for the rear foglights on US tibs.
