Sub not working :(
OK first of all, I don't know squat about sh*t so bear with me. My sub is not working. I checked the connections and they are all good. The fuse in the amp is fine and the HU settings are correct. So what could it be? And how would I determine what the problem is? Could the amp have crapped out? It is at least a few years old: Kenwood 200w amp.

amp could have shat the bed, did the system work before and then stop working or did it just never work? if it did work before did you beat the hell out of that little amp?
is it 200w RMS or max?

OK, all the connections from the HU to the amp and from the amp to the sub are good. I box is a closed box, so I would have to remove the speaker to get inside.
Yes, the sub previously worked fine....I'm not sure how long it's been out though. The sound has been funny for a few weeks at least. I just don't drive a whole lot, and it's usually just short trips.
There is NO sound whatsoever coming from the sub. And I didn't see any lights on the amp itself, I mean it doesn't have any lights on it to light up.
As far as a volt meter, no I don't. But I'm gonna have a guy at work check it for me today and I'll let ya know.
Finally, I don't think I "beat the hell out of that little amp". I pretty much kept the amp level below 1/2.

most amps will have a light for power and a light for ground to let you know its on and grounded. if there are no lights on it either the LED's burned out? or no actuall power to the amp or maybe a short? You did check the fuse on the power cable right?

Alright, so we checked the amp with the volt meter and it's definitely getting power. So we went to alligator clip the power to the remote wire and caught a spark. With the remote wire removed, we jumped power to the remote connection and voila! Thump thump thump! So I must have cut the wire, prolly when I put the rear seat covers in. D'oh! Oh, and there IS a light on the amp. As part of the W in kenwood! Who knew! Not me, that's fer sho. Now just to find the split wire. At least now I know.

My sub is working again! I did pinch the remote wire when I put the rear seats back in after recovering. A liitle elec-tape and this time I MADE sure the wires didn't get cripmed when bolting down the seat. Good-to-go!
