Default Sub/amp question

well if it were me i would go with the infinity kappa series subwoofers. they have a better excursion rate and will handle more. in my personal opinion i would go with two of these. as for amp.. you are going to want something that can handle the 275 watt RMS handling of the sub.... but honestly the bigger the amp the better. when getting dual voice coil subs you can bridge them and get even more power so a big amp will be able to deliver this huge power and mind baffling bass. just remember... bigger = better

well..... not if you keep your settings right. you dont want to throw all the power of a bigger amp into a smaller subwoofer... that is why there are different settings you can put your amp to.... and different settings on your head unit to control this also. yes you can overpower your subs, if you push all of the amps power into them... just watch your settings and find the settings that fit your listening style

so i went to audio advantage, a nice car audio place down the road. i talked to the owner and he set this up for my car:

2 10" PPI (powersomething) subs
300W Rockford Fosgate amp
Labor, wiring, hi low, and box

Total: $628....that is subs, amp, all installation and parts. i think that sounds pretty good. he said it would definitely bump (we went with 10's cause i listen to rock music mostly).

so is this a good deal or am i getting raped in the ass? i was going to find subs and stuff online, but he said if they aren't from an authorized dealer, you're screwed if there are any defects. then he showed me what he could do for my car and i was really impressed. they've taken good care of me regarding my speakers, so i have no reason to doubt them....just wanted to see what everyone else thought

Raped in the ass.

LOL

You'd know that wouldn't ya?

LOL

Anyways, sounds high as hell to me, there are authorised dealers all over the internet, go to that company's site and see who their dealers are. Guaranteed you'll find it for cheaper.

i recently put subs in my car. The deal was from Best Buy.
I got:
2 pioneer 10in subs with a max of 500 or 600 watts
a 750watt pioneer amp
and a Q-logic box (going to be making a custom ported box i think)
total was like $270

also needed the wiring kit. That was like $60 or $70.

i installed them and a few blown fuses later they were runnin.
They sound good to me.

I got 3 MTX 6000's in a box, nice box BTW, it's this same one...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5707176488&rd=1

I got mine for $180 shipped, Veterans discount.

This capacitor...

For the same price, $68, same guy too, quick to ship.

Then I got this amp...

Except mine was brand new in the box with warranty, not from that guy, and it cost me $112 shipped.

Wiring I got locally and didn't cost me more than $15 for Memphis Audio wire.
