Some people have mentioned using colored folder tabs, although I don't know if anyone has actually done it. Might be an even cheaper and easier way.

^^ tried that. It didn't work. It wasn't dark enough. Here's the rule I came up with: Hold it to your eye and look around, if anything is any color other then blue, it needs to be darker.

The more layers you add on things, they just get more of the same color and blurrier. I've been working on trying to find a lens for this clock for about a year now since I did my LED conversion.

The only other thing I found of rumored sufficient quality is something called a "gel" used in pre-digital professional photographic equipment for external flash setups. It was described to me as a flat piece of plastic that fits over a flashbulb for the large umbrella like flashes they use. I never tried one, but a professional photographer friend of mine says that it would block out all light except blue.

Photographers and retouchers now use digital lighting effects in photoshop to do the same thing.

^^WTF T01???!!!??? You have had your car torn apart, in pieces, padded, in shambles, rebuilt, modified and paused to take pictures of it, but you couldn't slip a piece of plastic in the clock?

just kept on slipping my mind until i had everything put back together. i guess mostly because it was never the primary reason for taking stuff apart.

I'm interested to find out what it looks like. Is it just a film or is it actually a thick piece of plastic?

if the flash gels work then theater light gels should work in theory too... and they sell them in HUGE sheets (last time i bought a set for the theatre i think they were 40''x40'')... so you can probably make a lens for every person signed up in this forum with one sheet.

This has got me thinking about the clock. I already have one on my radio, I'd kind of like to put a custom 8 segment display behind the lens. I have no idea what i'd put there though....
