Default stock speaker question

In the door of y2k1 tibs...that peice that goes around the speaker itself, does that come off or is it attached to the speaker? I don't know what else to say about it, except that it goes around the speaker.
My question is, could I get that off and paint it? It looks as if it would hold paint..what do you think?
Also, if it does come off, how would one go about doing so?
Thanks! wink.gif

Wow, RedShark,

I'll be damned if I know what you're talking about and I've had both door panels off my 2000.

If it's anything like the rear speakers, it's attached to the speaker.

Damn, I didn't even look at the front speakers.

Sorry, not much help sad.gif

If your talking about the oval, tear dropped, bubbled out piece of plastic (just thought I would put in all the shapes I could think of that you might beleive it looks like)that is on the outside of the door panel, yes you can take it off and paint it it is not connected to the speaker in any way but you have to take the whole door panel off to get at it.

I meant to say you have to take the whole door panel off to remove the speaker cover to paint it. I know you probably knew what I meant but I had to correct myself.

there are two screws on each side of the door panels, 3? screws on the bottom side of the door panel and a screw on the door handle (that you pull to open the door). make it like you're gonna open the door and pull the door handle and the plastic around the door handle should come off (kinda confusing? i know, hard to explain). pull on the door panel that right way and it'll plop right off. on the other side of the door panel there will be screws that you have to remove to take off the speaker cover. then paint it! i think you might as well paint the side panels too if you're gonna do all this. it's not hard at all.

Don't forget to take off the plastic piece above the door panel behind the side view mirrors, it just pops right off. I made the mistake of not taking mine off and scratched the hell out of them trying to get the door panels back on.
