Where did you buy your cables for OBDII? And what software are you running to interface? I was looking into Digimoto, but i've since heard alot of bad news about them. The external X-Fi soundcard seem like a good bet, going straight to amps?

Do you happen to have a pic of how you mounted your lillliput? I'd like to see how it looks, I may go that route instead of the indash screen.

Crap, I just lost my reply.

I bought my cables used, they came with Digimoto. I've installed it, but that's about it, haven't had time to really use it yet. So I can't comment on the quality. My main goal right now is relocating my pc from under the driver's seat to the dash. It's too easy to steal under the seat. The Travla c137 case will just squeeze in if I relocate the floor vents where they connect to the blower. I'm going to extend them with some hose from Home Depot. That and redo my molded screen, which pretty much looks like ass. I've been meaning to for months now, but never have the time.

I used several different soundcards after I got tired of onboard. A PCI Audigy and then a USB Audigy, I want to say NX, but it's been a while. One of my biggest annoyances was multiple volume controls, some redundant yet independantly adjustable. I wasn't happy with the USB Audigy, mainly because of the increase in CPU load, but it definitely sounded better than onboard. When a deal came along on a DSP, I jumped on it. I don't know anything about the X-Fi soundcard, sorry.

i figured that the smart 5.1 would suck. ill give it a try though, ive gone through great lengths to properly ground everything and keep signal cables away from power cables. we'll see. i would have gone with pci sound, but i needed one of the available 2 pci slots for a serial card, the other is for a usb card. i have the c137 case as well, im going to put it under my passenger seat. it will be a REALLY tight fit if you put it where you are talking about. i ended up capping off the ducts that run under the seat, i dont think i need them.

it will be 4.1 too, i wont have a center channel hooked up. i will def. be able to tell if the sound quality is bad though. ill have the component speakers' amp seeing a 5v signal from my headunit untill i get my carpc in there.

as for obd, i bought the stuff from scantool.net.

I wish you luck. smile.gif I wasn't able to eliminate the noise completely even using spdif out until I bought a coaxial to optical spdif converter. That completely isolates the carpc from the rest of the audio system, noise doesn't go any farther. Otherwise the pc can still ground through the coaxial cable. There's nothing worse than the sound of a hdd seeking coming out one's speakers. My grounding job beforehand was only average though.

That's a typo in my previous post, I have the c134, not c137, sorry. Good bit of size difference. I eliminated the ashtray, which helps in fitting the case in the dash. I considered cutting down the case, since there are snap in PSUs available, and that would shorten it enough to use it as a true DIN case, but I'm too paranoid about theft now anyway, so I'd prefer it hidden. Some people actually cut into the blower housing and reshape it for extra depth.

I don't use the capping on the ducts either. They're in the way. The plus about under the seat is that you can keep it cool in the Summer with AC.

then you can have condensation issues though, no? that was one of the reasons i got rid of those ducts alltogether. makes a ton more room down in the shifter area as well.

I never noticed any, and I watched for it when I was driving with half of my dash removed. Those two ducts don't have a condensation problem, what does though is the blower they connect to. My first spot was actually on the other side of the blower, up against the firewall and above the two shifter cables. Perfect fit for my case, quite hidden, yet easy to remove. But water will drip there when it's humid and the AC is on. It's possible to insulate it, but too much trouble, and that could be an expensive mistake.

I really want to keep the ducts. I bought flexible reinforced plastic hose which is easy to bend and will fit over the plastic ducts after I cut them. My main amp is also under the passenger's seat, and that needs air blowing on it or else the passenger seat gets hot. But you're right, I had them out when I soundproofed my car, they really make the shifter area cramped.
