I just bought a new steering wheel off ebay

I was wondering if anybody had replaced theirs yet (i know canadianshark has that MOMO Trek wheel.....)

....and if so, is this something that needs to be professionaly done because of the airbag? i'm not even sure if it's going to adapt right yet.... and i have a feeling i'm going to have to get an adapter specially made.

if not though, is this a safe mod?

well, no airbag. so i guess its not entirely safe.

they make steering wheel adapters. i saw a bunch of them at advance auto parts, pretty sure one of them will fit the tib. you will need to also buy a steering wheel puller. like 14 bucks from advance auto parts. just be careful screwing in the bolts that hold, the threads are kinda weak.

And you'll need to deal with the airbag.
BTW, it is ILLEGAL to tamper with the SRS system, but that's up to you.
Not sure if once you take the airbag outta the system, if you can clear out the airbag light, cuz it'll keep checking, you might have to pull the bulb out to make the light go away.

From what I've heard, its not like the airbags ever go off in the Tibs anyway,

Once you change the steering wheel can you change it back?? I'm sure you can, as long as removal dosen't require breaking something. I'm just thinking of getting a nice wheel to put on for shows and stuff like that. Then change back to my OEM wheel to get it safety inspected and the like.

i dont know how easy it is to put on an aftermarket one, buts its pretty damn easy to take the stock one off.

pop off two little panels.

use a star driver to undo airbag screws(not sure what size, or even exactly what the bit is called)

big ass socket

steering wheel puller.

I am installing my stocker steering wheel tomorrow.
I picked up a steering wheel puller for $5 at the local auto store.
I am selling my Momo steering wheel with the hub.
