trying to fix my horn, the plastic piece (that has the metal plate) which is behind the horn button is broken
would anyone have any ideas of how to do a little custom job, because to fix the OEM way seems like its going to be difficult .. ill explain how the horn works:
the button that you normall push to make the horn go off has a little screw on the back of it. that screw has a wire connected to it, and there is a spring on the base to let the horn pop back into position after u have hit it. anyway, when you push the button down, the spring compresses and that screw touches a metal plate which is attached to a plastic piece that is screwed in the plastic piece on the wheel itself, that metal plate has a wire connected to it. so when u push the horn down the screw touches the metal plate and it completes the connection

you can take the vinyl cover off of the steering wheel, but behind that there is a plastic piece to the wheel, anyone know how i would get that off? if i did get that off the air bag would not deploy would it (because the air bag is right behind that plastic piece)?

thx

you can have a better look if you take out the airbag. look on the sides of the wheel, about where your knees are when you are driving. there are little plastic panels. pop those off, and underneath are some torx bits. unscrew them(they wont come out, just loosen up) and then you can pull the airbag right off. you might want to pull the AB fuse first. the airbag light might stay on too, dont really know.

dont know if its the same for your wheel, but thats how mto take a rd2 AB out.
