Default Sound Responsive LED's on Subwoofer?

Hello All,

Is there a "safe" way to wire in an LED strip to the sub and/or amp to pulse with the music?

Sorry for the low quality, but please see the following youtube video for a visual explanation of what I mean:

Does anyone have any suggestions or how-to's? I read a few places that wiring the LED can have unwanted affects (increased resistance, possibility of burning out the LED's, etc). I don't know much about this, but was hoping that if there was a guide or explanation simple enough, I'd be able to set this up.

You don't have to wire them into the speakers, there are cheap power controllers that you can use. The ones I used were about $10 at pep boys. They were connected directly to the battery and only turned on by vibration.
