Single Din Stereo Surround..
Well I've had it for awhile, and I painted it and what not. Anyway, tried to put it in like a week ago jsut to see what it'd be like, and the shape is wrong. on the right, the actual piece is rounded, and the rest of the dash is like |_ almost a right angle. They are completely different shaped. Did I somehow get an Rd1 piece or something?

RD2 interior = |_-ish lmao.gif
RD1 interior = roundish.
Sounds VERY MUCH like you bought an RD1 radio surround. I don't even think the clips line up? or do they?

Well I got the part # from someone else, and I told who ever the heck I bought it from (think it was some Hyundai dealer that RDT used to be cool with or something) and they sent that one.

i know what you're talking about. the stereo surround is molded differently. it sticks farther out and has an edge where it should connect on the passenger side up to the dashboard. if you want to use it you have to cut the edge out and fiberglass it to fit.
you can do that by getting some aluminum foil and pressing it against the stock rd1 center din. then you can put fiberglass jelly/resin into the cut out corner of the rd2 din and press the aluminum into the corner to create a mold. you can't go wrong if you have some time, patience, and sunlight.

stereo surround should fit fine man, post some pics. i think they are both interchangeable. they should be but i've also heard that they aren't.
They aren't.
mb499. I think I know who you're talking about. KNOXHYUNDAI was his name? He got me a lot of cool stuff...
anyways, don't bother with part numbers. I KNOW you got an RD2 radio surround and everything else is RD1 stuff. Plain and simple. Don't bother with strawberry jello flavored moldings or whatever HKC was talking about, it won't come out right (or maybe it will, but I HIGHLY doubt it's worth the effort).
I have an RD1 radio surround for you bud (but it's blue.. and double din..) want it?

it's definitely not. if you knew what i am going through right now to get the surface flat you would throw it out the window. i've got 30 hours behind the din so far, about 10-15 more to go.
i thought maybe you're upgrading shifter surrounds like i did. that might be a problem. it's just easier to go with an rd1 shifter surround but i like the sporty rd2 one a lot better. sometime in the next month it'll be done:
see the upper right corner? that's what the problem is it's square when it should be curved.
