I'm in the process of making everything in my dashboard squeek proof, especially he heater controls. Little ticks and squeeks were annoying me. I was using little pieces of fabric (diy to come) where I could and silicone lube in other places. The silicone lube was a bad idea. I got some of it on my painted dashboard and when i wiped it off, it took the paint with it! Duplicolor clear coat and all.

I really liked the liquid wrench can because once you applied it, it dried and you could polish it. This new stuff sucks. I can't find the liquid wrench brand silicone lube anywhere.

So now I'm sanding down and repainting my dashboard.

 

Well that sucks to hear that your dash board got ruined, but it's good to hear that you can fix it.

I used to have alot of squeeks and tics also but when i changed all the clips it went away. Now the only thing squeeking is my dome light and sun roof console, cause i took that off and painted it also. I need to find a way to take that noise away also.

well... the damage pic isn't the best, but you can see where the silicone lube ran out of the vent, upwards and dribbled down to the back. it pulled off all the paint and made it silver.

ah man, that seriously sucks. Make sure you get it all off before you try and respray or it will keep the new paint from adhereing

 

I hope I got it all off, because the paint is drying now.

^^ thanks man. It's called Metalic Specks, by duplicolor. Eventually I'd like to have my entire car in that color. it's about the same color as cobalt blue with alot more metalic.

 

Yeah I know excatley what you're talking about, I had thought about using that wayyy long time ago before I decided to go green... Keep up the good work
