Short Shifter on RD2
On last 2 rd2's we have had when install short shifters in them, 1st gear is rubbing way up at the top/.left part of the circle. Is there special short shifter out there for 2001 Tib or has anyone done some sort of mod. My son has a 99 Tib and he has no problems
Thanks

No but more than likely it isnt the shifter, we have really sloppy shifter feel do you Really soft bushing!
You best bet is to look down at the trans, replace the stock bushing on the cable with aluminium, or maybe some hard plastics!
It feels like a totally diffrent car with a nice firm shifter, in my case it was just bushings in the cables, hopefully it will be the same for you!

You have to adjust the cable length. Right near the base of the shifter there are the 2 cables going to the tranny. There are adjustment threads and nuts on there, if I remember right. Simply adjust them so your shifter isn't hitting in the 1st gear position.
Should be about a 5-10min fix with one single wrench.
The bushing is only for slop in the shifter. If yours are good, then great. I added some plumbing tape (white tape) in 2 or 3 spots around the shifter bushings. Did it about 4 years ago and got rid of virtually all the slop. Now it's a tad more loose, but nothing like what it used to be.
