Okay folks, today or tomorrow I'm installing my XM car kit in the car. The antenna is long enough to install it anywhere. I'm wondering, for those of you with XM or Sirius in your cars, where did you install your antenna? I don't want mine on the outside, and according to the thread (yes, I searched!) about these radios here, several of you said that you installed them inside with no problems. I'm considering running mine to the trunk and mounting it on the inside of the hatch lid.

Suggestions?

No, it's got to be on something metal, at least 6 inches from glass. It makes the car into a uber antenna I belive.

That's what the manual and such says, but in the sirius thread we had here some time ago, a couple guys had them installed inside with no issues at all.

It's a TINY antenna, I just don't want everyone knowing what I've got.

I'd say just try it inside. Its either gonna work there or not. If it doesn't, then deal with it then. One hurdle at a time.

the antenna is mounted ouside on the other side of the sunroof from the nozzle squirter and the wire is hidden under the headliner and then runs down the pillar and then behind the dask to the head unit.
i actually like the way mine looks. i also have the mini version so it's alot smaller than the factory ones that they use in acura.
i really don't suggest mounting in inside because even with mine outside, the signal fades out from time to time when going under a bridge or going by tall trees and in parking garages. i can imagine it would be worse if you have it mounted inside.
