Default Removing Dynamat

Hi,

I have dynamat in the hatch done by the previous owner, and it was done really badly and craptastic (its just small squares all over). I want to remove it and start over but I have heard that its really difficult removing and peeling away dynamat.

Any specific chemicals or am I just gonna be picking at it for months?

Thanks.

That is not dynomat. That's sound deadening tiles. You can simply pull it off or use a heat gun to melt the glue. Personally, I'd just leave it on, make clean cuts and remove the 2nd layer wherever it's overlapped.

No its actual dynamat. It really does look like someone just took sheets of it, cut it into little weird shaped sized squares and stuck it all over without actually thinking it through. It looks really bad I dont think its doing any type of sound deadening. I want to remove it all and apply actual sheets and make it look professional.

why not just go over the top with the new stuff, you cant have too much of that stuff its great, in a few places in my mates car we put 3 layers on. Up to you... Heatgun + hours of work or window tint glue removal.

Cheers Ryan

I did mine in 4" x 18" strips, the entire interior. it is starting to come up in the spare tire area but the only person that will ever know it is me. i really don't care what it looks like and i know I'm more OCD than you are, lol.

it's working, trust me on it. if it is coming up in full pieces just reheat and stick it.
