I was over at AC Moore to get some dowls to hold my plants up when I noticed that Rustoleum makes a nice product called "american accents" a subpart of this product is the "designer metallics" series.. and one of those paints looks just like the colour of my dash... it is called "antique Bronze"

It is the first one on the left. Tomorrow I am going to pull apart my centre console and repaint it. I had to paint it originally when I fitted the Mustang Bullet shift ring and the junk drawer beneat my radio, but the colour I used "anodized bronze" lacked the metallic hue my dash has.. This new paint is a metallic so it should look a lot closer to stock for me.

They have other colours there too that may be of interest.. including an antique black, aged pewter, and the like,

 

I always wondered about that dash. Pretty much every RD1 Ive seen up in Canada has the bronze dash. My friend Pete has it, random RD1s in parking lots had it, even a junker had it. In fact I grabbed the right door button control cover if you need an extra one Art. Its also bronze. I like that dash but I would have to paint the passengers side door panel to match.

 

Thanks, Liz.. mine is the only one I know of in the states. I guess it was more or less stock north of the border. BTW.. I got your fender sanded down, painted, cleared, mounted the sidemarker and bolted to the car today. Thank you, she looks 100% better now

 

Yeah Ive never seen any other bronze dashes down here in the states. Yours is the only one. And wow, you got that fender on already? How does it fit?

 

In response to all Canadian RD1 tibs having a bronze dash, I believe that's false - I have a black dash like everyone else south of the border laugh.gif

 

Like it was meant to fit a tiburon! seriously, I was up early this morning to meet a guy from conn. who was bringing some fiat parts down to me while on his way to NC.. so I have been free since 8am.. needed to do something with my time

And the bronze only came on SE trims, 98-99 Tibs ONLY

 

mine is a plain jane 99. No sunroof, no leather, steel rims, no spoiler, tape deck.. least I got the 2.0 and the disk brakes in the rear... and an odd single oval tipped muffler

 

I was referring to SE trims up in Canada, I have no idea how they packaged it in the US

 

My blue RD1 had it.
