Ok Im gettting racing seats because Im sick of the stock cloth ones. Thing is, Im not too experienced in this area. I know that the only brackets for us are by corbeau, but I couldnt find them for less than $100. (do those brackets even fit generic seats?) So I have 2 ideas in mind: Custom or stock parts. I was leaning with stock mounting parts, will this work and what kind of work is needed? I was looking at something like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-X-UNIVERS...1QQcmdZViewItem
could I mount these with the stock parts? Some input here becuase Im kinda lost. Thanks guys!

#1, dont buy generic seats. they ALLWAYS break. the back adjustment breaks, and then its permantly fully recloined, and you will have to shove something behind the seat just to make it sit up and be able to drive it. ive seen 3 sets do it. stick with a known name at least.

for brackets, there real easy. get some 1/4 inch x 1 inch steel stock, now cut two strips out of it that are the length of where your stock seat rails bolted to the floor. from front to back. (these two strips are gonna be what your mounting to the same holes on the floor as the originals) once you have those done, cut two more strips out of the steel stock that will be the same width to sit right on top of the two other bars you just laid down. these bars will obviousely run from the side, to side. now drill the holes to mount those pieces to your sliders on the seat. then you weld the side bars to the front to back bars. or you could be lazy (or if you dont have a welder) and drill threw all the bars, and just hold them together with bolts.

it will work, and actually very well, and costs like a whopping $15 bux for both

Trust me my man, XXX is right.

What you NEED to do is go to the local BIG car shows and car shops. Find the local shops that actually have some of the seats in stock, so you can try them out first. A LOT of racing seats are very narrow, and a LOT of them can be VERY uncomfortable.

At the Nopi Shows, there's usually a Sparco and Corabeau tent, where you can try out all of their seats.

In auto parts, the cheap stuff is usually cheap for a REASON.

I love our stockers. I'm probably going to just get them recovered.

And I've driven 26 hours nonstop in them.

the stock seats gave my back issues on trips really bad. i bought my TENZO's for my other car, but since im driving the tib now, decided to toss them in as a temporary thing, and now have decided im not going back to the stockers. plus i drove Pile_of_rd1's car with his leather rd2's, and couldnt stand how high the stockers sit compared to mine.

of course my center console now doubles as a arm rest, and i actually reach up to grab the shifter. im 6 foot, and can barely see over my steering wheel. course i could easily change it if i cared, but i really like feeling short smile.gif

Sure.

Bomz = Cheap Shit.

I've felt and been near their seats, cheap.

They also fade in the sun very quickly.
